Just a quick update on The Nation’s Triathlon swim permit status. To date there has been no swim permit issued. Everyone should know though that water quality is NOT the concern and is NOT holding up the issuance of the permit. Much like the Hudson, the Schuykill, and the Allegheny, the people in the DC permit process understand now that the Potomac is clean enough to swim in provided it doesn’t rain before the race. They also now understand that if it does rain before the race the swim segment will be canceled much like at other triathlons.
We are working with the right agency’s, have the right peoples attention and have a champion in our triathlete Mayor. While the permit has not yet been issued the signals and feedback we hear are favorable.
