Saw this article yesterday and read through both parts… holy shit. Surprised this hasn’t gotten more attention nationally (co-workers in MA all knew about it)
I live and work near where this happened and I know people involved in this story. The police fucked this up from the get go and it’s hard to know what to believe from all the stories that have circulated and the social media frenzy this case took on.
All of this. My wife worked as a civilian employee at BPD a decade plus ago, and I have two brothers-in-law who are LEOs in MA (not related to this case). This case is both fucked up seven ways from Sunday, and also sounds very in character for law enforcement in the Commonwealth.
The trial alone cost the people $208,113 in police overtime
The lead investigator was paid $313 for prep time and $835.90 for time on the stand. He was fired the day after the mistrial.
