The infamous Cervelo Single

This one turned out cool. A friend asked for me to build him out a single speed. This is the result. Sub 16lbs.

SWEET!

Please tell me legit single speed track style training and not destined for hipster duty? Pretty pretty please…please…

I saw a hipster with skinny jeans and a messenger bag riding a P2K the other day, aerobars and everything. No joke.

sweet…

Dude, how did I not meet you when I was in Austin in Feb for the Marathon? I mean, really? Us STers gotta be tight, right?

Nice!
How did you tension the chain?

It has horizontal dropouts so its the same as any track bike.

That is pretty cool for a single speed but way to heavy but it is aero.

This build will be turned into a single speed with front and rear brakes and will be under 14 lbs. It currently serves duty on the trainer year round. The bike below this one was a single speed build that I did a few years ago and that one was 12.52 lbs before it was changed into a 13.8 lbs geared bike.

Dont worry. No hipster can pull this off.

It has horizontal dropouts so its the same as any track bike.

Ah, silly me. Thanks I missed that.

I just retired my trusty Cervelo Eyre road bike (1997), and I’m considering turning it into a single speed - I already have a single speed mtn bike, a fixed commuting bike, so a single speed road bike would be a nice addtion to my stable.

cheers

That Giant is Bad ass. I am gonna clip on some aerobars to my SS.

It could have been lighter with a pair of base bars and carbon tt levers. The interesting part was the full carbon single speed conversion kit with a carbon 16t cog that held up to all the abuse I threw at it.

SS 'cross bikes and Mtn bikes are cool.

SS road bikes not so much. A road bike should be fixed, not single.

I cannot remember where I saw this, when it comes to road bikes:

Single Speeds are to Fixed as Wine Coolers are to Beer

Cool looking bike otherwise. I’d hack off the ft der braze on

My opinion, of course.
