Just saw that. It’s a BREAKING NEWS alert here in the South.

Deon?

Sad day in my family. Wish him, and Miss Terry, a long and happy retirement.

You never want to follow a legend. However, the ego on many of these coaches will have them all chomping at the bit to take over.

I would bet the first one trying to audition for the job will be Lane Kiffin.

Lane Kiffin.

That will go over not well at all in Mississippi as he just did sign an extension less than a month ago. My Ole Miss co-worker is already talking about it.

Lane is probably driving down from Oxford right now so he can be first in line.

Pete Carroll is now looking for a job.

3 months after the Bear retired in '82 he died of heart failure. He was 69 and Saban is 72. I too wish him a full and happy retirement.

Wow. Some massive shoes to fill there. I am most definitely not an Alabama or Saban fan, but I think he put together a run in college football which may never again be matched.

Belichick to Bama and Saban to New England?

Mel Tucker has a history at Bama.

Interesting who they go after:

Deboer
Kiffin
Smart
Swinney
Lanning
Sarkesian

It looks like Carroll is going to stay in Seattle and take a front office job.

Like Saban he is 72 years old. They are both in great shape but being a head coach at that age would be rough.

Will Belichick retire now? Then he, saban, and Carroll can all go retire to Cancun together

That’s cold

Urban Meyer

Bryan Kelly

I kinda doubt Belichick will retire. Interesting to note that both Belichick and Saban are Croatian Americans.

Some possibilities

Dan Lanning (was a GA at Alabama)
Steve Sarkesian (former Tide Coach)
Kalen DeBoer (has the same agent as Saban)

I would not want to be the coach to replace Saban. You want to be the coach, who replaces the coach, who replaces Saban. Let someone else take the heat.

Sark would be the best fit but he would be crazy to leave such a good team.

Urban Meyer

Bryan Kelly

Oh, bless your heart.

And that is why I closed with a full retirement wish. The comparison in age fits as well as the comparison of legend status.

The way it read to me was you hope Saban drop dead in three months

So what kind of NCAA violations occurred that will result in South Alabama getting the death penalty
