It’s pretty expensive too if you ask me. They charge $30 for a half mile or mile run. I’ve also seen they have a dog dash too. Even the pooches pay!

I was looking at it for my kids for my next race and it struck me as how expensive it was. I remember my older kid doing one years ago and being so proud about his medal. Maybe I could see $10 to cover the medal and some swag but this is clearly a revenue generating opportunity for them.
My older kid (12) isn’t going to be swayed by the distance or the medal (too short for him), and my younger one (9) isn’t interested in running at all. Maybe if it was $10 I might sign them up, but not at these prices.
Thankfully Macca is doing his thing in keeping the cost down for kids races. Free!

Nice. My kids do 8-10 triathlons a season here in Germany. Entry usually €15-30.

This is exactly what triathletes want. Lots of drafting, no enforcement of the rules, pay for the experience.
You voted for that 10 years ago with your wallet. Smaller events can enforce anti-drafting rules better, can be cheaper but might miss one gel flavor at km 30.
