The Dr Tigerchik thread

Wonder why not give journavx a try. My pain med (chronic) doesn’t want to give to me either but he’s talking to the rep this week. Took it yesterday and really helped my back pain.

A wise man (might have been my Dunedin Uber driver) said you are one shitty event away from enjoying the rest of your life.

<3 Hang in there. Life will get better. We can trade the ‘remember when’ stories at some future point.

I hope you are feeling a little better today!

I’m a late-comer but sending healing vibes. You seem to be one of the kinder voices of reason here.

There are different types of pain, and different meds work on different sources and don’t work on others. Direct nerve pain… The type of pain often associated with the various nerve tunnel syndromes… is a difficult type of pain to manage and most standard pain meds do not manage it very well.

Not a doctor… Just a patient and husband of a patient with too much experience in that arena.

The sarcasm in me can’t resist… Murphy was an optomist. /pink kinda?

nerve pain SUCKS

My go-to when nothing else helps (outside the narcotics) is ice.

Not being an ice-bath enthusiast, this one is tough.

I don’t even like to swim in water below 77 degrees, so I am truly wimpy when it comes to cold therapy.

Get better soon; we’re all rooting for you!

Yes ma’am, it does. I’m very sorry. I hope these surgeries eventually provide you some relief.

I’m guessing drug interactions might make it unsafe.

It does. I wish I had a solution for you. Stay strong.

ice doesnt help nerve pain :frowning:

hanging in there

thx all @spudone @Tom_hampton @GFD

So sorry to hear about your pain. My wife dealt with nerve pain in one leg for months and it was brutal. Another friend somehow injured a nerve in his neck casually warming up a golf swing and he was in a lot of pain (couldn’t lay down, could barely sleep) for nearly two years.

I hope you find a solution or at least some comfort. These things can take a frustratingly long time to improve. Best wishes.

worse flare yesterday, med changes helping overall.
YES to frustratingly long time. Making VERY VERY VERY SMALL slow improvements
thx for all the love. it means more than I can say. thx for the thread. still here… there’s that

@GFD how are you? please tell me how you are, really. And your daughter?

I am not having an easy time. My elbows have both been hurting badly. My left elbow has improved but my right is so painful I am having trouble holding a glass. I see my surgeon on Monday for my 6 month follow up. Therapy has been tough and I am showing slight improvements but my vision and balance are still problematic. I have been sleeping a little better, especially the first half of the night. Retirement is now my only choice. Even two hours of putting together a Blackstone Griddle wiped me out for two days, so the idea of teaching again is not possible. I am struggling quite a bit with the realization that my life is never going to be back the way I want it to be. I could really use a significant improvement in some form in the next few weeks.

My daughter finished her 2nd year of law school and is two weeks away from her big law summer internship. My son finishes his 2nd year of college on Thursday. Having them home for a week is going to be exactly what I need.

I continue to think about you and your recovery and I send you positive thoughts each day. Thank you for asking about my health. I truly appreciate it.
