Coming into this tour I didn’t think much of David Millar. To some extent I still don’t because of the doping, but man has this guy been under a dark cloud this entire tour or what? He’s so outspoken, answers reporters all day long, gives a great interview, and seems genuinely contrite about wanting the tour to clean up. Plus, the guy was under enormous pressure for the prologue in London, was out on a ton of breaks, and generally tried to do a little bit of everything, even doing the polka dot jersey thing in the opening stages. He was everywhere this tour. I’m actually a bit surprised he didn’t hit one of the dogs. Skin rash, broken discS, didn’t he fall once early in the tour? I think he may have actually paid his dues to the cycling gods.
Yeah, Millar was one of the hardest working guys in the Tour, and is a model for a reformed doper.
When I read “answers reporters all day long, gives a great interview” I laughed… The first interview I saw of him after the prologue, he said something like “no i didnt feel good” and he walked away without answering any question… he does seem very outspoken when he does want to talk though.
