The craziest thing I've seen while riding a bike

Today I was out on my ride and about ten miles from my house I looked to my left and saw two camels. They were penned in and there was also a donkey in there with them. That is by far one of the most ridiculous things I’ve seen while riding a bike. What other things have people seen?

You should probably state where you live. For example if you live and train in Iraq, that is probably not that crazy. If you live in souther California, then yes that is crazy. Elaborate some more my friend. Oh, pics next time

i saw a porn movie being filmed. Guess they were going for the nature scene.

I got “flashed” a couple of weeks ago. She hung out the passenger side window and lifted up her shirt. Three of us in a pace line just about crashed.

I saw a fat man in a pick up truck once. No really, I swear.

Maybe not the craziest, but the porn shoot reminds me I saw some sort of hunting/camo-themed bikini bimbo photo shoot out in BFE ranchland once. Didn’t catch any full nudity, and didn’t want to stare too long in case the guns were loaded and they decided to go off on the neon spandex fag rolling by…

I don’t know if this qualifies as something “crazy” on the bike, but it did make me laugh:

I apologize for the crappy resolution- pics were taken with my blackberry in the rain. Basically, this guy was riding his road bike with one of those 3rd wheel attachments for kids, but instead of a kid he had a giant bullfrog wearing a cape on the back. The bullfrog’s feet were in clipless pedals so the frog was pedaling along-- it looked hilarious!

other cyclists. They’re a scary lot, including the ones with stuffed frogs.

My usual ride in near Austin, TX goes past an exotic animal ranch that included zebras and other sweet african game
.

Besides the usual dead snakes, turtles and other wildlife, I saw a pair of pants, belt attached thrown on the side of the road. Not exactly hilarious, but it sure struck me as funny at the end of a long ride. I just want to know the story attached to those pants.

Near Scandia, Minnesota there is a huge circus net with trapeze. I’ve yet to see somebody on it, but I always hope.

Last year on a routine training ride out in the country a small whippet dog ran after me. Like everyone else I’ve been chased by dogs more times than I can count but this was different. After he caught me he ran along side like he was inviting me to race.

I got out of the saddle and sprinted (wind aided), he looked over to say “see ya” and left me behind like I was a telephone pole. I looked at my bike’s computer and was going 28. He ran about 50 yards farther stopped and looked back. If a dog could gloat he was doing it. That was the fastest dog I’ve ever seen, I’m just glad he wasn’t mean.

Great story… Those suckers are fast! …built like mini greyhounds.

Man, I’m really glad Kermit got his life back on track. He was pretty low for a while there:

Two armed storm troopers walking down the street at 7am with no houses for a few miles in any direction…Kind of scary actually

not so crazy. i would frequently do some long rides in northern california’s central valley and often rode by a pair of camels. i got to start sharing water from my waterbottle and splitting a banana with them. they loved the water and the snack. on later rides, when i would stop, when they would see me, they would immediately come trotting over to the fence to see what i had brought for them.

you don’t live in the San Juan islands in WA do you? there’s a spot with a couple camels out there.

On a local MTB trail, (devil’s gulch) someone had taken about a dozen cut old bike tires, and nailed them into a stump to create a mtb octopus.

This part of the trail was quite a ways in, so it took some work to get 6 miles to the stump with all the needed materials.

Near Stonewall, TX, there is an emu that will run along the fence with you for about 3 miles (he runs out of fence).

Off the back of the first road race of the season we had an Australian Shepherd run with us for about 15 minutes. Actually kinda worried me; hope he made it home okay.

This one is just sad:
stage race in rural texas - apparently badly explained to the locals. 2 little kids had a lemonade stand set up on the TT course. Saddest faces you’ve ever seen. If I’d had any $, I would have stopped.

Best is probably Mike Freidman riding into track nats wearing a full on superman outfit with padded chest and cape, riding laps of the track singing the theme song at the top of his lungs - then pulling of 2 wins to back it up.

In the Iron Horse Bicycle Classic in 2007 I was with a group of maybe 5 or 6 people just past Haviland Lake, about 15 miles in and just past the first set of climbs, when 3 horses came running out of a driveway and ran with us for about 3 miles up the highway. It was very cool when they were on the other side of the highway, but when they crossed over to literally run “with” us (as in, in the middle of our group), we got a bit nervous.

But they didn’t work very well together and we eventually dropped them.

great story. there are two little donkeys around the corner from where i live. maybe i’ll start carrying carrots.
