Ok, so this isn’t anywhere near as exciting as my last thread - but I figured rather than people posting a coupon code every once in a while, we could stick them all in the same thread for easy searching.
For the record, I still recommend supporting your local LS whenever possible, and especially if they’re a good shop. However for things that they don’t stock, we have the internet.

For anyone that’s interested, I’ve been buying my running shoes from this guy named Phil in San Diego area for a year or more now. I was turned on to him by another friend, and Phil has lots of shoes that he gets as returns etc. I’ve never met him in person, but I’ve now bought 8 pairs of shoes from him over the last 18 months or so, and they’ve all been perfect in quality. No box, no tags, just great shoes and phenomenal prices. I pay him through paypal, and while the first transaction was surely a leap of faith on my part, the shoes showed up on time and were better than I expected.
I asked his permission to post his contact info here, so if you are interested, check with him to see what his inventory and prices are. Again, all I can offer as to his bona fides is my personal experience with him and that I’ll continue to buy my running shoes from him until he stops selling them to me.
can somebody working in a store who gives coupon codes comment in terms of if they mind people sharing them? As much as coupon codes can be found on the net I never usually use any b/c they trigger my ‘dishonest thing to do’ detector (I do have an overactive conscience, so shoot me).
The way I figure it is that if I’m a store I will give out the coupon codes only to specific groups of people (reward frequent customers) or tie them to specific ads (to calculate how many eyeballs I am reaching with a specific campaign) and I definitely wouldn’t like too much if these codes became public, otherwise I might as well just do an outright sale and be done with it.
What do people here (esp. store owners) think about this issue?
I don’t work in a “chain” bike store or any bike store for that matter. But, why would they offer a coupon code to specific customer groups that buy “in-store” merchandise. I would rather keep them in the store than refer them to the internet. If they are frequent customers, the discounts should be given to them while purchasing at that store. IMO.
It’s called viral marketing. You give out the coupon codes because you know they will be spread around on the Internet, the idea is that you pick up customers that you would not have gotten any other way.
Look at all the feee markeing that is going on on this thread right now - the companies are loving it.
