Thanks for the blue balls Garmin

Reneged on Left/Right Power and TSS/NP/IF per dcrainmaker:

I thought they had a semi-plausible explanation for not updating the 705, but this is just plain weak.

Lame, was really looking forward to TSS/NP/IF on the 310xt (liked the idea of a single device)

I hadn’t been interested in the 910xt, not sure this swings it to buy yet another watch just to simplify
.

Of course they wouldn’t 910 is coming out, why would they want you buying what will now be a cheaper option once the 910 comes out?

Seems shady to me.

You’ve got a perfectly good function piece of equipment that until very very recently was top-of-line. I would have expected end-of-service to be at least one more generation down the tri-watch pipeline. To start phasing out support to it this early in its life-cycle reeks of what netflix tried to do with their recent fumble. Force consumers to adopt new technology by removing services. Seems like a good way to alienate long-time customers.

Yup saw that post/tweet from Ray and was highly disappointed—mostly because they said it was coming but now say nope!

Ding ding ding! Ol’ bait and switch by Garmin. This is probably a dumb move on their part as they actually have competitors now!

I think this will end up hurting sales for them. I, for one, had plans to ditch two PT wheels to get the Vector pedals to use with my 310xt. I don’t need the 910 as I already had a Swimovate watch (which I hardly use anyway). By keeping those metrics off the 310xt, I have no reason to switch powermeters now. Looks like I just saved $1500!

My guess is that it probably won’t work like they intended with the 310. There is probably a shortfall in the 310 that makes it unrealiable so they don’t want to put it out.

I love Garmin products, I dislike their business practices. Polar or Timex need to really step up their game.

I’m in exactly the same position. I was waiting for the power pedals before I jumped from Polar to Garmin. It would have a been a $$$$ jump, too. That won’t be happening now.

It does reek of Netflix. I think they just “Queued” themselves.
