Texas IM 70.3 Galveston Hotel? Moody Gardens Sold Out!

Moody Gardens Hotel is sold out and the waiting list is enormous. Inn at the Waterpark is sold out too. Any other suggestions for a fun hotel with good logistics for getting to the race, etc? Thanks!

Galveston Island isn’t all that big so everything is close if you have a car. I’m staying at Moody Gardens this year but last year I stayed at the Hilton. It’s just a couple of miles away. Price was about the same as Moody Gardens. The San Luis is right next to the Hilton and is a very nice place… but pretty expensive.

I heard in another post that the Hilton didn’t allow athletes to bring their bikes in the hotel…is that true? Did the Hilton work out well for you to easily get to the race area as needed?

Stay in Texas City or La Marque. It’s a piece of cake getting to/from the race site.

also, lots of condo rentals in the area on vrbo.com
.

I dropped my bike off before I checked in so I can’t say. Frankly, if any hotel told me I couldn’t bring my bike into their hotel, I’d tell them my money isn’t going into their hotel either.

It was easy to get to the race area. I think I left the hotel at 5:00 and was parked and getting body marked 15-20 minutes later.

The Hilton would not allow athletes to keep their bikes in their hotel rooms. They stacked all the bikes in a meeting/conference room. Many bikes were laying on the floor. The valets had keys to the meeting room. There was also a convenient rear exit door for easy thievery.

Stay at the Hampton instead.

I usually stay in Texas City and have even stayed as far out as Mall of the Mainland. Getting to the race early in the morning is not a problem with no traffic. Just takes a few extra minutes.
