OK, so this isn’t a triathlon question, but I thought I would throw it out there. My mom is looking into buying a Terry Bike, apparently specially made for small women. I have never heard of these bikes before now. The front wheel is smaller than the rear and there are other tweeks that make is more suitable for women.
Anyone have any comments or feedback about this bike?
I have a Symmetry, which is Terry’s entry-level road bike, and I love it. I do get comments about the smaller front wheel, which I consider a great opportunity to evangelize about WSD bikes in general and about Terry in particular. My bike shop guy is trying to get me to upgrade to a custom Independent Fabrication bike (He has even picked out the color scheme for me!), but I am not feeling a need.
My TT bike is a P2K and I like it, too, but my Terry feels like an extension of my body, and the genius is in the details. For example, last week I had to buy new handlebars, having raked my bike off my roof rack (for the second time–you’d think I’d have learned) while driving into my carport. My bike shop guy sold me some pricey carbon fiber handlebars to replace what I had destroyed, with the idea that I would move them to the new bike I will buy when I eventually upgrade. But the reach to the brake levers was uncomfortably far for me and couldn’t be adjusted any closer, and something about the angle of my wrists to my hands in the drops was not right either, with the result that both hands were numb for most of a 2-hour ride, notwithstanding my moving them around. I just never could find a comfortable place for them. So at my insistence, my bike shop guy is ordering me Terry handlebars, and I have made noises to him about upgrading to a Terry Fast Woman and to heck with a custom bike.
For what it’s worth, I am an average-size (not small) woman at 5’4". The issue is not height, it’s body proportions.

Thanks for the reply. I will forward this on. I also ride a P2K and love it.
