Overall I love it and have been considering the new version just for the better buttons and mount.I can affirm that the new versions are fantastic. I do not specifically remember charging speed, but it did not strike me as slower than anything else. (My standard for slow charging is the Garmin Varia, which seems to take lifetimes to recharge.)
