as a place to live. How are the trails and parks they speak of? Close to Red Rock? How is the cycling?
not sure about the riding, but the girlfriend manages all the NICU’s up there and as far as we are concerned, Summerlin is the ONLY nice part of Las Vegas. If you have to move there, that is definitely the place to be.
However, because it is newer, nicer, and a bit more upscale, housing prices will cost a bit more. I’ve only ridden Red Rock, and out the east side of the city when up there in the past, but I think even Slowman knows plenty of routes up there from what I remember him reporting about rides for Interbike, etc.
Summerlin is a nice part of the valley. be aware that if you buy in Summerlin, you will pay for the HOA of your little community and you will pay a second fee for the privelidge of living in Summerlin. Summerlin is not a city/town/anything. It’s just one of numerous master-planned communities in the Las vegas Valley.
It is near Red Rock, which offers some of the better riding in town. however, you’ll be battling against new fees they’re proposing for bikers, to take advantage of riding the scenic loop. Also, you’d be about a 45-50 minute drive from Lake Mead where all the races actually occur.
I live on the other side of town in an area called Green Valley. Technically, Green Valley is in the city of Henderson (kind of like the difference between Phoenix and Tempe), which is adjacent to Las Vegas. I am about 25 minutes from Lake mead. I can train on the Silverman Course any time I want.
Feel free to PM me and I can give you my number if you have any questions,
