Does anyone do it? Wax their chain ride for abut 50-100 miles, then before the race give it a good Teflon dusting for race day.
I do… bought this off of E-bay. It should last me forever. I wax before my big races, get in a ride or two to free the chain and dust the chain before the race.

Any difference between the above, and the powder from Molten?
Yeah that’s why I asked this, $30 vs $10…same stuff? You can buy Molybdenum disulfide for around $12 off eBay…if you wax your chains you should be mixing both already right?

They are not the same… the Molten is PTFE and Molybednum from what I can tell… the powder above that I use is just the PTFE with some other “stuff”.
The writeup for the product above mentions being superior to Molybednum… honestly I’m not expert here but it seems like a good option to the Molten powder.
what I was thinking is buying a jar of each, throwing them both in Tupeware container, prerace once the chain dropped the excess wax and loosened a bit, put the chain in and shake it up, reattach the chain and turn in the bike to T1…Wipperman Connex my link of choice
.
Given the volume of the containers, looks like the molten stuff is just over twice the price (extra $11 or so).
I was buying a 1 pound bag of speed wax from an ebay seller anyway, so throwing in the powder was no extra shipping. Given it’ll probably last me forever (race chain only), it was worth the few extra bucks and not bother thinking about it…
