Tech Question: Aero Helmets

For those who own aero helmets, I have a question…

Is there a high tempeture that you consider your aero helmet too hot? I suppose I am assuming that it is hotter under there on hot days. I guess people do wear them in Kona…

Anyway…tell me about hot weather and your aero helmet.

…thinking ahead to Louisville.

Thanks, everyone.

Cheers.

Most of the time, they are warmer due to lack of ventialtion, but the new Giro model has some improved venting that may prove to be of value.

I wore a LG Rocket in Cancun with temps in the lower 90’s and humidity around 85ish and I felt fine. I was really worried about the heat because of everything I read about them being so warm. Only main concern was that it was nearly impossible to dump water on your head to cool the body down.

…now I thought I would have this problem at IM South Africa this year wearing a black Limar in 80 degrees but it’s never been a problem. That said, I would not wear it when I TT over 10 miles…

So, you were unable to dump water on your head properly?

I do like to do that when it’s hot.

Since there is really no vents and the flaps go down to my ears it is tough to get water to the top of your head.

I have a LG Rocket and it is hotter than my Giro road helmet. Its not that bad though.
