TdS Live: Lancelot

…TTs slower than Schleck (half way).

+1:08 on Martin at Finish. 10 OA so far. No TdS win and more doubts.

Lancelot 5s faster at finish than F Schleck. Legend!

Didn’t Lance peak in 2005?

He better be able to take time off the Schlecks in a TT.

looks like he rode conservatively, especially the first 1/2 of the TT. He rode the 2nd half of the TT well. It wouldn’t be unlike Lance to keep his A-game in check until the TdF.

Gesink, on the other hand looked horrible throughout. He was shifting in the saddle every 3 seconds.

It could be Jack, especially when the Schlecks, AC, Cadel, Basso, Wiggo etc etc also peak for the tour.
Good ride by Lance today. Should he be a little concerned that he was only a handful of seconds ahead of Frank?

on a side note… Anyone think Fugalsang sp? is going to be someone to watch in the Tour in the coming years. We know he can climb and based on today he is not to shabby in the TT. If Bjarne cannott secure a sponsor and he gets to go somewhere where he does not have to ride for the brothers Schleck…hmmmm

maybe schleck got better at TTing?

When Armstrong was winning the Tour, he’d win mountain stages and ITT’s.

At this year’s TDS, he finished in the chase group on Stage 6 and 11th in the final ITT.

Maybe he can come up with something in the next couple of weeks. At any rate, I’m looking forward to the Tour.

If I remember correctly, when Lance was wining the tour, he used the earlier races as training and was not dominant in anything until the tour de France, to me this race was a sign his form is coming around and he should be a contender at the tour in July, still don’t know if he can take Alberto but he is looking pretty good…

Actually, with the exception of the 03 Dauphine when he went too deep into the tank to try to beat Mayo, LA has always done exactly how much he feels he needs to do in his last big prep race. Knowing that it would not suprise me if he purposely raced this way. Of course it wouldn’t surprise me if he was simply on the decline either.

nothing wrong with taking a more Sastre approach to winning a stage race when you don’t have the epic power numbers you used to =)

No one, even a Lancelot, forgoes a TdS win if in reach.

Faulty logic as the TdS is not his main goal and LA learned his lesson in 2003.

Do you really think burying yourself in a 27k TT is going to compromise performance in a race 2 weeks away? Give me a break. I seriously doubt any of these pros could do harm to their prep by racing a TT that short full gas. When there is talk of holding back in prep for the tour, I think the riders are holding back on 200k+ mountain stages. There’s no way LA or any other self respecting pro doesn’t try to win the TDS when it’s only a 27k TT standing in the way.

You would be surprised at what pros will do at other races that aren’t their goal race. I know/knew some pros and have heard some great stories. Even one big name who shifted into an easier gear for the last k of an ITT of a prep race in order to not win it and let his rivals question him.

What I am wondering about is whether Levi or A Schleck really have what it takes. Neither of them were close to Lance in the GS. I thought Levi was thought to be the person that would be supported in the TDF. Not a chance. He cannot hang with Lance.

I am starting to think the TDF will be a 2 man race.

Who would’ve guessed that Lance Armstrong would’ve grown up to be Jan Ullrich?
