In the first place, if the femur breaks, the person is in incredible pain because the quads/hams pretty much displace the femur and shorten the leg. You have to get the person in a hare traction splint, otherwise they are just in agony. Second, unless something really weird happened, it wouldn’t be a “small training crash”. Plus, he’d probably be going by ambulance, not the guy in the VW behind them.
I really hope I’m right. A broken femur would seriously suck.

Also, consider mechanism of injury. Any bicycle crash severe enough to break a femur will most likely have caused other critical injuries. Enough so you probably wouldn’t be able to tweet about it for a bit!

Yeah, I thought about that, and figured if it was true, maybe he caught a road railing at just the wrong angle, or something like that. Just something really weird. But it def wouldn’t be a “minor” crash. You break your femur, you KNOW you are f’ked up.
