Just wanted a specific shout out and thank you to Talbot Cox for the great videos that he has been posting for a while now.
This sport is near and dear to us all, and I think many of us were inspired by an Al Trautwig written / produced video from Kona that would be sandwiched in between a college football game and a local NBC affiliate news broadcast.
I would wait patiently for that broadcast, as it was really the only source of high quality (moving) imagery of athletes doing their thing, with great music backing it up - and a storyline that left me wanting to ride the trainer for long hours. NBC still does a great job - but what Talbot is producing is comparable to that broadcast (if a relative weekly snippet) but he is doing it on a weekly basis. Amazing / innovative camera angles, tons of transparency, some humor mixed in - and underpinning it all - a unique ability to capture the passion for the sport that unites us.
So - here’s hoping that someone gives you a bigger platform and more funding to keep at it…and you can expand the number of athletes you are able to feasibly cover.
Also enjoy his videos. Those folks complaining about the music should go and view this year’s Kona broadcast, which was presumably done with a much higher budget than any of his videos. The Kona video demonstrates that the music could be a lot, lot worse.
He alright. If you like content, that is. Me, I like staring at a wall. Content is for people that like to be (air quotes) “entertained” by the pros with things that are (more air quotes) “engaging” and (air quotes) “interesting” and sometimes “funny.”
(Send me your invoice, Talbot… and way to stomp it this year. Get some rest, mang.)

Just watched the NBC broadcast…and that was the worst showing I’ve watched in the past 4 years. Hopefully they decide that sucked and go back to how it was. Not a good presentation. Narration sucked. Music sucked. Build up wasn’t good. Just a bad show all around.
Probably some irony in that the content he is shooting is consumed by athletes who love the production quality - but actually features athletes who generally do stare at walls while training!
