Tacx Trainer Software and watching a movie

I upgraded to a Tacx Genius the other day and so I’m now running Tacx Trainer Software to control the trainer. I always watch Netflix movies during my training sessions (not that I get much of the plot when I’m exhausted, but there is at least something to focus on), but it seems that I can’t have a movie on and at the same time control the resistance of the trainer.

Could this be correct or am I doing something wrong?

The control unit for the trainer seems to just imitate the keybord arrow keys, so that when I have another window in the foreground I am just scrolling up or down in that window instead of increasing or decreasing the resistance. It seems as the Tacx trainer software has to be full screen so I can’t even have it and Netflix side by side.

I get new trainer programmes from my coach for every session, so I need to be able to control the resistance while training.

Maybe I should just have kept my old trainer, it was noisy as hell but I could watch movies. And it was about 10 times cheaper.

Anyone having a solution to this?

The software takes over the computer’s video resources, so movies wouldn’t be possible. However, I listen to Audible books or music when training on my Bushido.
Another option is to run a movie on an Ipad or laptop while running the Tacx software on your desktop.

I found the solution myself. Thought I would post it if someone else has the same problem and finds this post.

Make sure to untick the Full screen setting box, which can be found under Setup->Settings->General. Then you can have several windows at the screen simultainously, i.e. watch a move.

I think this is the best solution until the Ipad interface is released in feb 2013. Then I will run the trainer from the Ipad and watch movies on my large screen.
