Long story short: I’ve been run through the gamut of tests for left chest/rib/shoulder blade/back pain going on 7 months. Heart/chest appear great. Another doctor just took more X-rays of my spine and point out two large bone spurs from arthritis on the right of my T8 and T9 as well as a smaller spur on T7 vertebrae. Suggested this may be shifting things and irritating nerves going to my left side. Ordered an mri and suggests getting a shot in the disc to ease inflammation.
Then he suggests I stop running…
I panicked and didn’t ask any of the right questions. I’m 41. The most fit I’ve ever been. Just ran a marathon pr in January. Raced Ironman Worlds in NICE (don’t judge me). I feel I have more to give, but am I just going to screw myself if I keep running? Is running going to cause bone spurs to get worse? I don’t have pain during a run or ride, it’s always after the fact or in while sleeping.
Any first hand experience or medical professionals have better news than no more running?
