Vancouver August 14-16
This seems a strange one. The roads are closed anyway for the age groups on both days so why not have both races on like in France.
Will be very interesting to see what the T100 plans are for next year.
Looks like no T100 pro race in the UK next year based on this as I can’t imagine them putting a pro only race in another UK location. Very strange as it must be one of their biggest markets. Watching the pros race and then racing AG made it a great weekend in 2025, watching SC isn’t the same for me so it isn’t something we’ll do again in 26
Despite the popularity of the event overall, could it have anything to do with the awful bike course? It’s a hard watch and must be even harder to actually race?
That’s really surprising.
If it was bad news, T100 would just announce it as being included and then cancel it later. It makes me suspect they have another race planned in the UK?
It’s a little strange because they just spent a bunch of money to buy the London Triathlon. And now they are doing an age group race and abandoning the unprofitable pros. Heh, almost as if they are divesting of pro events in favor of more profitable age group ones…
New info on the 2026 t100. Only 4 events for each men and women on separate weekends. No contracts, but unfortunately still only 20 starters each race.

What do they mean by fewer mandatory events when there is no year long contract?
A top ranked pro can just drop in for one race and not do anything else?
For e.g I can see the 4 Norwegians dropping in for 1 or maybe 2 races but still focuses on the IM pro series?
I assume that is the plan. 4 races, 3 of which will count towards points. So basically 3 are the max need to do. I assume mandatory is the wrong wording, maximum sounds like what they should have said. Unless only those whom have raced all 4 get to race grand final but that is not what they have said.
So:
4 women’s races
4 men’s races in locations different from those of women’s races
1 men’s and women’s grand final
you can only skip one race if you want the maximum number of races (3+GF) to earn you points.
Singapore (male or female?), Vancouver (male or female?) and Gold Coast (male or female?) are confirmed, with the traditional T100 proviso that who knows.
So far it looks like one of the sexes will get the short end of the stick (i.e., Singapore; meaning either you do the race nobody wants to do, or you get zero flexibility).
My feeling is it will likely be the men as surely they will want Ash to be racing on the Gold Coast. Ellie is also a Queensland local, that must account for something.
The Oz race is very early in the year as well? Is it Feb or March?
It will also be a hard sell in the sense that some will end their season in Dec? Getting ready for an early race that needs a lot of travel for many might not appeal..
This is significantly better than the format that they were trying to do this year. Yes, I will claim that I was right.
It’s clear to me that they are invested in making a really good race product, but you can’t make that great product for both men and women on the same day. So splitting the schedule between women and men is solid since they are unable to do two days back to back. This does put way more pressure on them as an amateur race promoter though.
I would presume the new minimum is gonna be what two races? Even three races has bee difficult for a lot of the contracted group this year.
But this is a good shift and is better for the pros, it also shows they are focusing less on competing with Ironman rather than being additive.
However, the rumored 200k is again nowhere to be seen.
Agreed this feels significantly better, but hard to really judge without a) an actual schedule and b) clarity on how they will handle athletes qualifying for the races. of the 4 races announced we know the women will be in Oz and the men in Singapore, London won’t have a pro race and no idea with Vancouver. So they still have 6 races to announce including Qatar which we can assume will be the last pro race of the year post Kona. Maybe the 200 will be part of the 6 remaining races, but not sure it makes sense to have that as a continued plan with the new season format.
As for the athlete qualifying will the continue to exclude the athletes they banned this year or will they let them back? If they let them back how do they qualify?
The press release says 3+GF for max points.
So essentially they did what we all wanted- “less” races, they just are keeping the same number of total races; but splitting between m/w. Actually probaly pretty good plan. I’ve always thought if they are going to do that, invite/allow anyone and everyone (I guess still limited to 20?) and it sounds like that may be possible? PTO is simply going to “invite” the best athletes prior to each race?
That seems to be the plan and I’m not sure how well it is going to work. Hard to really say without a calendar to go off of, but I foresee some major issues for athletes with season planning and some T100 issues getting the best on the start line.
It’s interesting in that does it allow a few “big name” one and done athletes to show up to their “local” event for now double the individual race prize purse? I’ve sorta said, for an athlete who can show up 1 day and go top 5, it may be worth it if your Laidlow, Blu, KM, Knibb type to race 1 time and win $30k (3rd) and go back to their regularly schedule IMPS focus. Hell could someone race 1 time, get a top 3 and finish ahead of someone finishing 14th every race and make a “free” $20k or so from end of season rankings?
