T100 World Tour 2025

Knibb has dropped off the start list for Qatar, totally unsurprising. Guess she was just ‘keeping her options open’.
Can’t believe Findlay is enthused about racing. We’ll see.
The start list has >20 on it.

Will she get even $1 from whatever contract she signed this year?

Idk, obviously, but I have said upthread I expect she’ll retain the individual race prize money and maybe get the final standings bonus, but her marketing/appearance contract will be reduced to net zero.
The PTO will want her to race some T100s next year so there’s a goodwill issue to consider. I expect Knibb to decide to race the odd T100 next year. If she wants to race IMWC she needs to KQ - assume Texas, and for Nice she needs to validate. Finally (and off topicish) the USA surely need both Taylors for Venice Beach and it must be attractive to Knibb to race a home Olympics. So assume there’ll be a 29 month plan to race sufficient short course to get WTCS starts.

what do you mean re:Paula?

Findlay was a bit unhappy in Marbella pre-race (as seen and see TTL vlog)) after her injury which surfaced after her win at Augusta in late September. Well done her for giving Marbella a go, and she climbed well (the ‘heavy brigade’ got away on the long downhill). But chances of running 13 miles were real low and she proved that to herself more or less after going over the bridge (?200m).

Unlike some she will want to honour her PTO/T100 contract by competing in the final, but those sorts of injuries are not the sort you recover from in a few weeks.
That’s all I’m saying; Qatar is a long old trip in that frame of mind. Hope she turns it around for the 2026 season, and even gets to race that Ironman.

I wouldn’t guess there is much goodwill needed at this point. Knibb isn’t going to go out of her way to race any t100’s likely anymore (right?)? So if she wants to race for the larger prize purses among an NA race, then so be it. But I don’t think the 2 parties need to care about the other at this point based on how each are treating each other.

Paula, but mostly Eric has stated one of the many reasons they went to middle distance was to live the lifestyle where you didn’t have to travel like they did on the ITU circuit. That’s been a complaint of a lot of athletes. One of the reasons why they’re shifting to the 3+GF format instead of the 5+GF and contract format.

You gotta hand it to Lisa Perterer for the season she’s had. There has to be some end of season award for the athletes that covered the most race distance in a year.

Yes, without looking I reckon she must have raced more km than anyone else. Last year Visser raced iirc 16 times [edit thanks @enduro50 ] but all MD. Matthews raced 11 times (including DNF at T100 Miami and a DQ half way round IM Hamburg). For fun I did the sums: Perterer (assume finishes T100 final) will have raced 1530km v Matthews’ last year’s total of 1480km. Small beer both compared to Visser’s >2300km in 2024.

Nope.16 races yes. But:

IMNZ (2nd)

IM Hamburg (5th)

Challenge roth (3rd)

IM Vittoria-Gastiez (2nd)

DNF at IMWC Nice

My error.
Too many fulls, perhaps?
But when summing the distance I included 226km for all Els Visser’s fulls, except for Nice where I put 200km because she dropped out on the run.
Off topic: Worth noting Visser was on track for finishing top 4 in the IM Pro Series till she failed to score in Nice.
Visser’s SM suggests she’s all in for a good race in Qatar to scrape into the top 20 in the 2025 T100 standings, after her ‘Hervey Bay 100’ win.

Kyle Smith has broken his collarbone (he doesn’t actually say what he broke but my extensive medical expertise from being a Marquardt fan is paying dividends)

Besides Smith (GWS), Long is off the MPro start list, as is Lopez.
In WPro Knibb has finally scratched (was she just listed for presentation’s sake?).
Edit to add: And today (Wednesday) Visser has said her last race will be Busso so no T100 final. After her four (as contracted) races she lies #24 so there would be no final T100 standings payout. IMWA looks very tight at the top: she could bow out with a win.

Remember those finishing outside the top 20 t100 move into the contenders ranking for end of season payday.

Yes but since Visser is about #25 in the Contenders Rankings that’ll be about $4000, when/if paid. ‘Contender Rankings’ due to die on 31st December. Seemed to me to be a construct with the only apparent purpose (as opposed to using the PTO Rankings) to exclude the ‘contract refuseniks’ from the option of racing T100 in 2025 and from getting an end of year bonus. Loevseth heads the rankings at present (and assured of the £16000 payout for #1).

Visser is retiring after Ironman WA per her instagram.

See my post four up.
But two weeks ago she said:
“Race weekend in Dubai! Wishing everyone a great day on course. I won’t be on the start line, but come back in action in Qatar :qatar:! @t100triathlon

I believe those in the top 20 t100 will be paid as that ranking and not double dipping into contenders. At the moment contenders are from those outside top 10 so therefore assuming 10 will be included in the t100 ranking payday so after the top 20, number 21 will be actually number 1 contender.

Good point - so Visser (for example) will end up circa #15 and get a payout of ~$8000.

Yes, that’s exactly how I understand it.

T100# EoY Bonus ($)
1 $200,000
2 $170,000
3 $150,000
4 $120,000
5 $110,000
6 $90,000
7 $85,000
8 $80,000
9 $75,000
10 $70,000
11 $50,000
12 $45,000
13 $40,000
14 $35,000
15 $30,000
16 $28,000
17 $26,000
18 $24,000
19 $22,000
20 $20,000

“The Contenders Rankings offer $560,000 in prize money to 40 + 40; $16,000 for 1st down to $3,000 for 40th”
My interpolation:

Contender 280000 x2

5 13000
