Had a quick look around for a start list but the one I found had Nice finishes on and none of the ITU wild cards, so not sure how reliable that is.
No doubt two huge/stacked fields all the same, particularly looking forward to see how Alistair does after getting more run fit. (No reported injuries)

Spivey and Duffy are contracted to race Ibiza Las Vegas and GF Dubai.
Of the nice women, Am sure Lee and Matthews heading there, and assume Haug too. Sodaro is required by contract to race, fwiw, as is Philipp who missed first 2 but has a #3 and a #4 so I’d assume she’d want to finish high in final standings. Pierre will surely be there (with Mignonette).
Kyle Smith is out with sickness.

Duffy hasn’t really performed as expected at MD, after a disappointing (coming back from injury year and Olympics) wonder if this might be the race she finally lights one up?
Any news on Lee and Charles-Barclay?
If both were injured Sunday I find it hard to comprehend they will be fixed by Saturday.
Maybe Lee, just used Nice as a final hard training session before Ibiza? (didn’t she just pull out the run, no suggestion of injury on her Instagram and a looking forward to Ibiza msg)
If LCB races Ibiza, you can draw your own conclusions to where her commitments lie…
Assure you Lee did not race IMWC Nice as a training session for Ibiza. She just had a below par swim, a so-so bike and was not enjoying the run. Can’t remember if heading for the prizes or (paid to #15 I think). She needs another decent T100 to go into the GF top 8 after best 3.
Duffy may not have excelled in her few MD races but iirc was #4 in 70.3 WC St George 22 so completely capable and coming solid Olympic build and recovery after Paris where she raced very well to hold her head high.
If LCB races Ibiza, I would argue the biggest indictment is upon Nice rather than IM per se.
I think Duffy will be the one to watch over the next 12 months as I think now she will fully transition to middle distance. She can swim, bike and run fast enough to keep up with everyone except maybe for Knibb…

Duffy traditionally swims and runs faster than Knibb, guessing Knibb has a better chance of gapping Duffy on the bike, but once Duffy gets dialled in at TT, a few races down the line who knows.
I agree with you but she lost a heck of a lot of training the past 12 months. I am amazed she did so well at the Olympics when you consider she thought she would never run again.
She left Paris pretty quick and went straight back to training so I would imagine she has put in a solid block.
I think Knibb might just have the edge this year but I think T100 next year is going to be very exciting with those 2 going head to head.
We saw Duffy race MD a few times. I have difficulty imagining that with Duffy’s injury history, she’ll be able to do the training and racing to challenge the younger ones.
Duffy, Spivey and Knibb all here and rolling. So are Lee and Matthews. LCB is not, obviously. Looks like Sodaro never planned to be here. I assume that after her great World Champs win Philipp will give it a miss (though that’d be a contract fail as she didn’t race Miami or Singapore).

Have they (LCB, Sodaro and LP) officially withdrawn or you just have not seen them?
It’s quite unprofessional if they only make it known like now, especially if they never planned to be here ? Should give PTO a chance to get some wild cards here and it will be great opportunities for pros to experience the race too

Wouldn’t be surprised if some already here (but not seen: 3 hour flight max in same time zone).
I’m sure all of those racing IMWC would’ve forewarned PTO that they plan to race, body willing after its thrashing at Nice. This 6 day gap has been a clear ‘challenge’ since 30 January.
