And Wurf lost 11 1/2 minutes, so can’t imagine it was a flat. Could have rode it in and only lost a couple minutes, so perhaps a crash of some sort or mechanical where he had to wait for assistance??
Well I can assure you I don’t even know what NFL stands for. I know it’s a sport similar to rugby, but you can throw the „ball” forward. And it has the Super Bowl. Football for me is FIFA World Cup or English Premier League or La Liga.
Wurf was 30’’ off the lead at 135km, then 6’30”at 165km and then 10’30” at 180km.
Weird. He might’ve just been dropped. Otherwise, it seems like if he rode with a mechanical (you wouldn’t lose 4’ over 15km due to not being in a pack, would you?).
ProTriNews says Marten crashed and came into T2 with a bandage.
He’s now entered T2 20’ behind
How many Nice slots at Cozumel?
5 slots per MPRO and FPRO fields.
Thanks! Can Marten run up to 5th?
At his current pace he has a shot, although some would have to come back to him too. He’s a little over 10 minutes from 5th at nearly half way, so lots have to go his way in his first ever ironman attempt…
But it appears the crash did not hurt his running abilities for now, so it is up to his nutrition to close the gaps…
If the main guys ahead run to form, it’ll be hard (especially as his first full/26 miles). Worth bearing in mind they’ve ridden 180km in a train and MvR was solo till caught at 160km, and then crashed in the run in.
Aernouts, Chevalier. Lieferman are high 2:40s runners and Weiss and Sowiieja both low 2:50s: all ‘uncatchable’. Giovine is a 1:14 half guy on his debut and has gone through 13 miles in <1:22. Wurf who is the next guy MvR has to catch: gap was 9 minutes exiting T2, and hope two of the others blow up.
MvR has gained 3 minutes on Wurf in 50/53 minutes running. Doable, but Wurf ran really well in Kona (2:50).
You’re welcome!
Looks like at this pace he will definitely beat Wurf, only 3 minutes down at half and running much faster than everyone in the field. Could be horrible news for Cameron too, and they will both be going for that 5th spot, and will need a couple to blow up for both to get inside that barrier…
Looks like Weiss and Deckard will back out of that top 5 race, so just a matter of who can move up to fill that one slot thus far. Dominik and Dario still running a good pace, one that keeps them in contention along with van Riel…
Wurf out of the running now, but marten really needs two guys to falter ahead of him. He is still the fastest by far on course, but running out of room quickly. Do we know if all the guys up front are taking the slots? I would have to imagine so, probably the reason for even doing this race…
Are any of the guys ahead just validating?
If so that extra place rolls down as well.
How far do they go down in Kona to auto qualify? Could be someone there maybe…
looks like that bike crash is going to cost marten the win today, so at least he now knows where he stacks up in a full ironman…He should run in the mid/high 2;30’s…

Podium isn’t it (I mean the real podium, not 4th and 5th)?
7th place and a sub-8 for Marten, with the fastest run of the day (so far) after losing 20mins to his crash.
no , no auto qualifyer or validater in the race

Well, that answers that question.

How far do they go down in Kona to auto qualify?
5 MPRO, 5 WPRO available.
No athletes here are already IMWC Q.
Only Blu, Iden, Laidlow and Lange are AQ, and the latter doesn’t need to validate.
Let’s hope the 2024 World Champion concentrates on the T100 and doesn’t get distracted by events on his bucket list.
