Has anyone seen the new course? I went online and saw that the course has been changed. Does anyone know how bad the hills really are on the revamped course? I hear there are multiple 12% graded hills !!

Looks like I’ll be biking hills ALL SUMMER LONG !
I believe previously they had the course elevation. They’ll probably include it soon. The previous course looked great - great, as in, not too hilly
I’m originally from the area and remember the roads well. The new course will have climbs, that’s for sure. But there won’t be anything too bad in there - the steeps will be short, but the overall climbs will be somewhat long.
The climb up 91 is the longest, and will be about 1000 ft elevation gain spanning miles 5ish through 10ish. From there I would call it rolling, with probably another net 1000ft of gain distributed over the remaining 50ish miles.
Don’t get too set on the new course yet. There has been a lot of chatter (primarily dissatisfaction) over the new layout from local folks, and as I understand it the organizers are trying to work with the applicable authorities (namely DOT) to reinstante the original course, or the closest possible alternative. I have yet to ride either, or register for that matter, so I’m really not one to comment on the relative difficulty. Frankly, I like the added climbing - especially at the beginning of the course - because it tends to thin out the crowd.
The original course was only moderately hilly by upstate NY standards, but had a potentially dangerous downhill close to the finish. The next published version cut out the majority of the significant hills. The current version added back most of the original hills and put in a climb up Bush Rd. near the beginning of the course. If they stay with the current course, it will be hard and selective.

Yea, the hill around 35 miles in where I was flying down at 40mph and in about 6-10 seconds, I was going back up at 4mph?! LOL.
Bring it on baby !!!
My garmin edge 305 (not reliably accurate until downloaded onto training peaks I know) recorded 22% going up Bush Rd. last night. Take the course elevation profile with a pinch of salt, it is averaged out a fair bit. The course should be spectacular, yes some hills, but some flying descents too!
