Switching freehubs on Zipp wheels!?!

Hi, I have a campag Zipp 404 rear wheel and a shimano Zipp 808 rear wheel, bothboth are probably 2009/2010 models. Is it possible to swap the free hubs on these wheels?

Takes about 30 seconds.

Most likely they use the same type of freehub body. You should just need 2 5mm Allen wrenches. I ‘think’ that is all it is. Stick those in the ends of the axle and loosen. One side will loosen, the other will likely not. Unscrew so that the axle cap comes off and the freehub body should just be able to come straight off. You might have to ‘twist’ the replacement to get it to fit on correctly. It’s pretty easy.

That’s great, for some reason I thought there were extra washers on the campag wheel and I was worried about damaging the wheels if I didn’t change those as well.

Probably not, but you might check behind the freehub. I have had wheels that had an extra washer behind the freehub. Those go with the specific freehub, so if they are on the campag one, move them with the campag one to the other hub/wheel.

Nope, no extra washers on Campy - there are however changes on the PowerTap hubs that makes it a PITA. So, you may be confusing those.

Brilliant, thanks
