Can’t seem to find anything online. Bought my daughter an Arena Powerskin suit. It’s the type that looks like a one piece suit with bike short legs attached.
She got a 1/4" tear in one of the legs at a meet last week. Trying to find out how to repair before the rip gets bigger. Anyone have any ideas. Looked for some sort of repair kit online but can’t find anything.
Only thing I can think of would be something like a patch kit for a tent, patch the tear from the inside of the suit. However, I think that the suit is now toast.
I guess she knows how careful you have to be with a tech suit now
I think nail polish works, but I’ve never had to repair a suit. Yes, today’s tech suits are VERY fragile! They’re like the paper suits of the 80’s.
How old is your daughter? And has she had a tech suit before? Might be a good idea to point her to a “how to put on your tech suit” video, which typically shows where to pull on the suit, warns about digging fingernails into the fabric, etc. They usually get damaged when putting them on.
Didn’t tear it putting it on. She sat down on one of those foldable canvas chairs. The chair was broken and one of the metal rods caught on the suit and tore it.
Ah, easy mistake.
When I’m at meets, I try to protect the suit between swims by putting on a pair of shorts over them as soon as I’m out of the water. Don’t sit on anything hard, etc.etc.
If you can’t repair, I know there are a number of really good suits on sale right now. Not the newest top of the line suits, but ones that have been around for a couple of years. I actually just ordered a Nike NG-1 for C$99 (added something else to the order to qualify for free shipping). I was also looking at the A3 Stealth, which is on sale in the US for $99 for both the mens and womens suits.
Don’t know for sure, but ironmend might work. http://www.amazon.com/McNett-Iron-Mend-Repair-Black/dp/B000GT471S
