I am doing my final big training before IMMoo next weekend up in Madison. I need to do a swim bike brick on Saturday. Can I Swim in Lake Minona? Other suggestions close to the race start?
Thanks,
Ed

I bet the University has a nice big pool if you cant find a lake to swim in. Coeds!
I thought of that, but it’s still their summer break and the pool is closed for maintance until 8/26.
You could swim in Lake Monona, starting pretty much where the real swim will be, but don’t venture too far away from shore because there are some boats on the lake.
There are a bunch of people that meet on Fri at 6:00am to swim the course in front of the Monona Terrace. I have never been down there on Sat but I bet there will be a few folks down there at 6 am on Sat as well. If that does not work for you, park at the Henry Villas Zoo and swim in Lake Wingra across from the Zoo. There are vitually no boats because the lake is so small and only small engines are allowed. Swimming across and back is maybe a mile but I am not sure.
We were down there a couple of weeks ago and swam in the area between the Helix/Terrace and a bike shop. There is a small park with parking lot and a boat landing. Out in the water there were a few buoys and some sort of ramp used for water ski jumping. We used those for sighting and regrouping.I think two laps ended up being 3/4 mile.
The water was plenty warm. No problems wearing a wetsuit, but appaently the water is warmer now.

Mike
Lake Wingra on most days is great and I believe the Headhunters Tri club meets there for OW swims. I was in an OW swim class at wingra meeting every day of the week. Check out www.swimfastmadison.com for their schedule. I know they did move some of the swims to Monona last week and it is on the IMMOO swim sourse.
Thank you all for the info.
