I do not know of pools any indoor pools in Brooklyn specifically, but here are some places to look.
Equinox Gym - has 25yard indoor pool at their Greenwich Ave and Columbus Circle locations and a 20yard indoor pool at their 63rd street location.
Asphalt Green - East 90th street on the east river - has an indoor pool (25yards I believe)
Chelsea Piers - 21st Street and on the hudson river - indoor pool, I am not sure of length.
Here are some links of city parks / pools
LIU Brooklyn has a great 8 lane 25y pool…not sure how to go about being able to swim there though.
Here’s a long, detailed list of pools in the NYC area, allowing you to sort by borough:

As for Manhattan, I’ve swum at a couple different pools over the past few years…
Chelsea Piers - 6 lanes, 25 yards, rarely crowded, gorgeous backdrop of the Hudson River/NJ skyline
Asphalt Green (UES) - 8 lanes, 50 meters - only limited hours, though - otherwise 25 yards, gets crowded outside of normal working hours
Asphalt Green (Battery Park) - 6 lanes, 25 yards, they rarely have more than 3-4 lanes open for lap swimming, usually very crowded
92nd Street Y (UES) - 4 lanes, 25 yards, often crowded outside of normal working hours
NYSC (UES - 90th St) - swimming on the cheap… 4 lanes, 15 yards (hey, great for practicing flip turns!), questionable water quality
I’ve also hit a couple of the NYC parks pools during the warmer months. They’re cheap and a great alternative if you don’t want to pay for a costly gym membership.
Thanks guys!
I’m primarily looking in Brooklyn.
If you want to join a masters swim team - TNYA holds practices at LIU: http://www.tnya.org/
.
Quick dip in the Gowanus?
Princes, I just looked up TNYA. If I showed up for a swim with them without knowing the club history I think I would be very surprised by the demographic.
I’m from Brooklyn. I recommend you get a metro card and use the other boroughs as well. Manhattan has some great options and it really is not very far away.
I live in Brooklyn currently in Kuwait however but here are some places where I swim that are closest to your zip code.
Prospect Park YMCA - They just opened their aquatic center that has a very nice 25yd lap pool and good lap swim hours. This is my favorite facility in Brooklyn
BedStuy YMCA - 25yd pool, decent hours. At night its not to many people using it so.
Dodge YMCA - 25yd pool, tons of swimmers and triathletes, especially in the morning.
Berkley Carroll - They have a masters program weekday mornings 6am-7am
Hope this helps. Also check out Brooklyn Triathlon Club (I am a member)
LOL…I noticed that too…
Thanks!
Those are all great locations! The one common denominator: they all charge at least 70 dollars a month. Between my rent, car, coach etc that won’t work:(
I found this place called St. John Recreation center. It’s 25$ a year! The facilities are okay. I’m sure it’s nothing compared to the Y!
I started at the St. Johns rec center but their hours didn’t work for me. Advice there though is bring a good lock, and don’t bring anything valuable with you. In the summer time check out redhook and sunset park pool. They are outdoor city pools that are free.
Good point about the lock! I think it’s also posted everywhere:)
Metropolitan pool which is on Bedford Ave. and Metropolitan Avenue. It is in 11211 so not sure if it’s close enough, but it is a city facility so it costs about 100 bucks per year.
Anyone ever used the Sportspark pool on Roosevelt Island? Looks decent and very affordable ($7 drop-in), but don’t want to venture all the way there without more info.
The Roosevelt Island pool is fine. Nothing fancy, but clean and rarely crowded. Right next to the subway, and a quick drive from the bridge if coming from Queens.
