Swim lap times in Training Peaks

How do I get training peaks to display the moving time for my swim laps? It looks like it includes my rest time in the laps, which is not what I want. On Garmin Connect, it displays my laps exactly the way I want them as just the moving time. I am using a Garmin 910xt to track my swim and am uploading the .fit files directly into the Training Peaks calendar. I have not tried using their Device Agent yet. To complete a set, I usually hit to stop button then the lap button to record a lap. When I am ready for the next set, I hit the start button.

Also, does anyone know if you can edit your swim data on garmin connect? Sometimes I get an extra 25 yards added to some of my sets and would like to fix that data if possible.

Your TSS calculation, session duration and all things important generally need to include the rest. Why leave it out? How fast you went is only relevant based on how much rest you received.

Don’t use the start and stop button
Use the reset button.
Start a beginning of workout
Reset when you push off the wall, reset when you come in after your interval, reset when you push offf…
Stop at end of workout

Waiting at wall will be recorded as Rest by Garmin Connect

Upload via Device Agent. DA will actually tell you the moving time before uploading

The problem with this is kicking will be seen as rest since your arms are not moving.

That’s kind of why I prefer using a Garmin Swim over the 910xt, the kick & drills can be separated from the swim sets. TP hasn’t separated that out yet though but I can dig that info out on Connect.

Really ? Cool! How does it do that ?

Maybe I need a Garmin swim for christmas.

It’s a setting on the watch that needs to be turned on and then I just page through the screens and select drill mode, that way it’s not part of my pace/stroke calculation. It’s a bit odd in that it uses the main start button for beginning and ending the drills but other than that way better than the 910 for pool swimming. I also set up the watch to act like a pace clock since I swim in one place where I can’t see the clocks very well and another where there isn’t a clock at all.
