Swim ear plugs will they help with dizziness

i am about to do my first him. i read somewhere that ear plugs could
help with dizziness. i only feel dizzy and light headed when i come out of the water, never during the swim itself. will plugs help with that.
btw, i can never run to t1 after the swim, too light headed.

if you get dizzy IN the water, earplugs will help; I had that problem when I first started (water in the ears made me feel dizzy) and they really made a difference.

dizzy coming OUT of the water sounds like you are just a bit hypoxic, which is pretty common, but no earplugs won’t help with that. just walk steady and breathe deeply for a few seconds.

I never had a problem in the water but would be dizzy just as I got out and got my feet on the deck. Especially when the water was colder. Have not had any issue since I started using earplugs

Tried them last night for the first time. Definitely helped. Previously, I would be slightly dizzy for about 1-3 minutes after getting out of the water. Last night - no dizziness at all. Give it a try.

Coming out of the water, I thought that the dizziness had to do with a sudden drop in blood pressure… sorta like if you stand up suddenly and get a dizzy spell. Not sure if ear plugs will help.

I used to be the same way - dizzy coming out of the water. Earplugs work for me, no more dizziness.

I second what **nnewton123 **mentioned above. I had problems the first few mins coming out of transition. Couldn’t run straight, had a hard time holding still to put the shoes on, etc. The colder the water, the worse the imbalance was. Popped in a set of earplugs, and it all went away.

I can get dizzy if the water is too cold. Rather than using ear plugs, I suggest chewed bubble gum because it really sticks and doesn’t fall out.

Can you get the bubble gum out easy enough? When do you take it out (during a triathlon)?

Yes, it comes out easy but more importantly, stays in better than wax. I take it out when I get out of the water. If the water is very salty, a piece is kept under my swim cap for quick chewing immediately after the swim.

I used to ALWAYS get dizzy from the run into T1…ear plugs totally put an end to that! I buy silicon ear plugs that come in a plastic case – you can get them at any drugstore. They rock!!
