Swim Buoy

Hi all. Can I get a recommendation for a swim buoy that I can use as a flotation device for short breaks? Most of the buoys I’ve checked out specifically note that they’re not to be used as a flotation device. I need one that will allow me a short rest if needed. Thanks!

I use this one from amazon. It has handles to use as a float. I’ve used it as such a couple times on long swims to check my surroundings. Doesn’t float with weight amazing but plenty good enough for a rest.

Those warnings are meant as a disclaimer that it’s not supposed to be a life jacket type of life saving g device. If it has a handle, you should be able to use it as an aid while swimming.

*1. That’s a legal thing meaning it’s not an official device for on boats where rule state you have to have one.

I use the huub one, but as far as I can see they are all much of a muchness.

Responded to your thread over on BF. Agree with much of the above. Will work fine for short breaks.

Get one of the larger dry bag types from Swim Secure. They will still say it’s not a floatation/rescue device, but you can have a rest on it if needed.

I second what island said. I both own and have gifted the xterra swim buoy on Amazon. When I want to take a break I just push it underwater and sit on it. Floats me just fine.

I have one of these styles, works great. Gives you a place to store your car key, etc. while you swim as well.
