Sweat guard for trainers

I’m assuming you mean the bike and not the trainer?

I have a Cervelo P2 on my trainer, and I LOVE the sweat cover from anaerobic zone. I got the one that covers the front, and it wraps around the entire front brake system. It costs about $25, and was a hugely worth it investment for me, given that I literally destroyed my front brake and nearly destroyed my headset from dripping sweat after months of trainer workouts. Since I bought it, I’ve had zero problems with sweat on my bike. I’m actually surprised it’s not recommended my more folks given the amount of folks who use CTs and indoor trainers here. The quality of that sweat cover is really good - it’s not fragile at all, and doesn’t get stinky even if you sweat on it day in and day out without washing it. (I admit I haven’t washed mine in MONTHS and I use it 3x/week for total sweatbomb fests. It never picked up a smell.)

Yes, the ones that protect the headset/Frt Brake/seatpost etc… That anerobic zone gaurd is quite comprehensive. Anyone use the Kinetic sweat guard?

I’m super poor right now. I use Saran Wrap.

I just drape an old towel over the aerobars and top tube.

Big sized garbage bag with a towel on top (so you don’t get pooling on top of the garbage bag). Covers brakes, brake levers, headset, and everything. I’ve done a couple spot checks after workouts and everything ends up dry.

I’m not poor but this works really well for me.

I use a towel folded up and placed over the aero pads and stem. I have recently added plastic wrap around the top tube, because that’s where I have exposed cables and they had started to rust from the sweat.

Isn’t that more expensive than just buying a bike thong?

Also, do you guys go shirtless on your trainer? I’m in headband and shirt - towel over bars and I’m good…

Ok, to be honest, I may have exaggerated a bit. It’s not the official Saran Wrap fancy name-brand, top of the line, grade-A product. I use the supermarket brand material that costs about $2 per box. Here’s the link to the specific product. One box has lasted for more than 3 seasons as I don’t gift wrap the entire bike, just the brakes, bolted areas, and some of the rotating parts in front. Plus, I really don’t want my bike in a thong. The concept is a little disturbing.

Since I ride my bike, I like the thong concept

I use the cycle ops thong and usually have a towel on top of the aero bars and that usually get all the sweat. Also having a shirt on and a headband helps with the sweat.

I use something like this

Yeah a bit more expensive then Saran Wrap and a towel but worth $20+ in my opinion.

You only need the FRONT piece. YOu don’t need to cover the entire bike - at least I didn’t need to. For $25, the anaerobic guard >> kinetic guard. It’s not even close if you have a TT bike.

An old cotton t-shirt over the aerobars.

You need a better fan or two or three.

towel…

towel…

Works for a lot but was a TOTAL fail for me. Saturated the thing in 40 minutes, which still leaves a long amount of time to soak through completely. I also hated how it bunched up if I folded it up to be thick enough to absorb most of the sweat.

Fans work to an extent as well, but I’ve got one that blows me frigid and I still managed to corrode my bike.

I use that “cockpit cover” by anaerobic zone. It’s worth imo if you have a TT bike. Haven’t had any complaints with it and I bust my tail on my trainer 3x/week. No need to hose it down or any special maintenance - just works.

A towel is to sweat protection as safety pins are to a race number belt. Cheaper but woefully inadequate and the potential for damage is exponentially greater.
