Suunto T6C watch do not recognize speed sensor

I have a weird problem:

I know my speed sensor (quick release) is working properly since my SRM head unit reads it. But the Suunto T6c watch doesn’t. What should I do?

Ask dcrainmaker. He mentioned that Suunto’s ANT was not ANT+ and maybe that’s your issue there? Please post your findings back, as I like the Suuntos form factors and have been looking at a T6D.

Have you tried what the manual tells you to do? First make sure the magnet is lined up. Then check the battery volts and replace if under 3v.

Manuals Directions

  1. Remove the Bike POD battery.
  2. Short-circuit the - and + metal plates in the battery compartment of the POD
by connecting them with a metal instrument, for example, by touching them
with a screwdriver, knife or a paperclip.
  3. In your Suunto t6, go to the Training menu and select Pair and then Bike
POD (if your device has a serial number 50500000 or higher) or Spd sens (if
your device has a serial number 50499999 or lower). The message ‘TURN ON
    NEW DEVICE’ is displayed.
5.Your Suunto t6 will display either ‘”PAIRING COMPLETE” or, if pairing failed,
“NO DEVICES FOUND” within 30 seconds.
  4. If pairing is successful, close the battery compartment cover. If pairing fails,
remove the battery and repeat steps 2–5. If pairing still fails, make sure that
there are no active ANT transmitters such HR belts nearby and repeat steps
    2–5.

I hope this helps

thanks for the help

it didn’t work :frowning:
My SRM PC7 still see it, but I can’t pair it with the watch. This exact setup used to work with my old T6c; but it never did since I replace it.

damn

anybody else?

Hi, unfortunately, although your T6C uses ANT+ transmission, Suunto has seen fit to use their own proprietary communication protocols that are not compatible with other non-Suunto ANT+ devices. The T6D has a Dual radio system that allows it to communicate with other non-ANT+ devices like some treadmills for heartrate info and their older Suunto heart-rate monitors, but for what you want, it won’t work. Maybe they will smarten up at some point, but for now, that’s the scoop.

I’m not sure I understand correctly

I had a T6C and it worked with that particular sensor (suunto speed sensor mounted in the quick release). I lost the watch, and bought the same model (used); and now it can’t see the speed sensor.

:frowning:

and anybody know what is the difference between T6C and T6D?

Ohhhh!!! Now I see the misunderstanding. I thought you were trying to get the T6C to directly communicate with the SRM and that should not work. I didn’t understand that you had a Suunto speed sensor. In that case, I’m not sure why you can’t get it to pair. The only advice I would have given has already been said by Keith-Oh so I’m no good to you on this one. I guess you’ll have to give Suunto an email and see if they have another solution for you.

As far as the difference between the T6C and T6D, here is the only difference according to the Suunto site:

Key differences between the Suunto t6 series watches:

Suunto t6c: Includes the Comfort Heart Rate Belt that provides interface free heart rate monitoring. Suunto t6d: Includes the Dual Heart Rate Belt that provides interface free heart rate monitoring and coded analog for data transmission with cardio gym equipment.-Mike

Aha, I too have a T6C and have done for 3 years. It takes a little while to pair sometimes, however if you have tried all th suggestions and it doesn’t work, send ithe sensor back for a refund and buy another. My first speed sensor (spindle one) died after 2 years, the replacement would not pair, got another one and it was fine. ‘Amusingly’ I also got a speed pod which never worked at all - sent it back. Irritating, but from my experience Suunto likes to periodically mess you about with flat batteries, just not picking up sensors, failing to download etc etc. Got a Garmin 500 and it paired with PT, cadence, HR belt in about 7 seconds.

I am sure there are those who love it/hate it etc etc, but I would never buy suunto again! Having said that their memory HR belt is good - it records data during swim etc.

PROBLEM SOLVE!!!

I changed the battery** in the watch**, even if it was working properly. No idea why it worked, but I’m glad it did.

yeah, I’m kinda stuck with suunto for racing since the HR strap is working well with SRM and watch. Also, I really like the speed sensor mounted in the quick release, super easy to swap between bikes and no adjustments… cleaner look too.

But I have to say the hardware part is good, but the software really suck!! I prefer The RS800 A LOT. The watch itself is better, easier to use, better looking IMO, super nice software (protrainner 5), etc. But the problem with polar is that none of their %$/?% accessory is compatible (I have an old RS800 and I can’t use bike pods), no powermeter (forget the crappy one they sale, it’s garbage!). I had some issues with the strap (corrosion) and 3 footpod just stoped working. So reliability isn’t great either.

If they would release a RS800 that would be compatible with my SRM/quarq and a footpod, I’d be all over this. I don’t like the HUGE Garmin 310xt because its too big. what are my other choices?
