Sustained energy - hammergel drink

Anyone use this? I have a few samples and I’m not impressed so far. “It has no taste” so I tried mixing it with gatorade. Is there something better than gatorade to use? It doesn’t seem to dissolve completely and tastes like chalk… otherwise… any suggestions?

this is the product

You cna mix it with Hammer gel to flavor it. I have tried it with vanilla and strawberry hammergel, both of which tasted fine.

Yeah, SE has virtually no taste just texture, kinda like blending white bread with water or something. H-gel would have probably stopped making it as most people starting thier products for the fist time use Perpetuem but there are lots of athletes who have been taking SE for years so they left it alone. It works well mixed into a pre-race smoothie/liquid breakfast, or add some other sports drink or gel to it for flavor. I’d go with perpetuem though. see the other perpetuem threads, it won’t win any taste test awards but it works amazingly well and doesn’t spoil as fast as SE.

I only use it as a pre-ride / pre-race meal replacement, but usually add orange juice to it. Sometimes, I mix half SE and half Perpetuem (2 scoops each) into a bottle with half OJ and half water. That plus a banana is usually my pre-ride meal.

hmmm, I gotta try that, is it any good?

Yep. I’d say either combination (OJ+SE or OJ + SE+Perpetuem). You can vary the amount of OJ/water to taste.

Now this sounds strange, but since I end up missing my morning coffee on long days, I’ll sometimes use OJ+Tropical Tea instead of water. Actually tastes ok, plus I get the missing caffiene. Try this one at your own risk, but it tastes better than it sounds.

The good thing about these combos is that they give you a reasonably substantial breakfast without a issues of heavy meal. You can get about 500-600 calories when taken with a banana. I don’t usually get up 3+ hours before rides or some races.

will try those, I get up 3 hours before a race, eat and go back to bed for an hour…
