Looking for anyone who uses one and can provide some feedback. What has been your experience?
Considering the Aero 4 suit (insane is too much $$$) in my opinion.
What’s the difference between MD and LD?
I’m 6’0" 175. 45 yo Skinny butt. Is medium tall going to be super tight up top? LG is what is suggested on their site but I hate bunching in the waste/crotch.
I do not have feedback on them but use Endura, design my own kit and they make it custom for only a small amount more than a cookie-cutter pattern you’d find elsewhere. Ryzon is overpriced for what it is (just for example)–check Endura Custom out of Scotland…LCB used to wear their kits. Super comfortable & I’m on my 3rd suit with a 4th coming for next season, unless I find something better.
The fit is pretty good. But for the price I’d have liked to have some anti-recoil stitches or braids.
The sleeves and thighs ride up slightly instead of staying taut.
The difference between the MD and LD versions is the pad. Thicker for the LD version.
And there … I had a big problem. Comfort was good on the bike, but no better than zerod, Kiwami or Zoot On the run, however, the pad’s thickness and rigidity really got under my skin. It’s the first time in 14 Ironmans (6xKona) that I’ve had this problem. My butt was bleeding …
And it’s really prohibitive.
It’s a shame because the fabric is very thin and breathable. It dries quickly and is very comfortable to wear compared to something much too thick
I just had a look at Endura Custom out of curiosity and found this message on their homepage:
“After careful consideration and thorough evaluation of our overall proposition, we intend to cease offering custom teamwear at Endura from January 2025. We will continue to take and fulfil orders until 31st December 2024. After that date, we will continue to fulfil and ship custom orders which had previously been placed but our ordering portal will no longer take new custom orders”
Wow that is a big chamois for Tri. Maybe ok on TT but you gotta run in it for Tri so definitely seems excessive there.
I wish they would put a little more info on the site regarding the pads options. It’s nowhere to be seen.
I also sent an email and FB comment and haven’t received a response from either. As much as I like the aero details, I’m not sure this all points to confidence in the higher price tag.
I just completed a 70.3 in an Ale Tri Suit. Gotta day, I never once thought about what I was wearing. It was very comfortable. Their pads are fairly minimal and pliable. Only issue I have with the ale ones is they aren’t doing anything for aero on the sleeves or upper.
I have a Giordana on order. Will see how that one fits, but Sale and Giordana have always worked for me on the cycling side of clothing.
After the first race in my kit the gel pocket had tearing on the outside. I only kept 4 PH30 in there too.
They gave me a warranty. Same issue in Kona but worse. The material by the pad was nearly worn through. I don’t exactly move around much on the bike. They claim their materials are super thin for the aero and thermal benefits. Well they seem way too thin. I’ve had Wynn and Kawamii suits that I raced in for 3 years that never looked like this.
Good - the thermal regulation and how cool the material feels when water is on it is legit. I’ve tested core body temp with this kit and the Wynn high vis and was nearly 1.5* F cooler. It just sees to hold cold water.
Ya, I think manufacturers need to be upfront with their users about the reality of ultra performance fabrics.
You’ll get marginally better performance, and the product very likely won’t last long. At some levels, it’s worth it. If you add up the number of hours you train, and if you are very wealthy, sure go for it. The suit is a fraction of your earning potential if you’re making big time bucks.
For everyone else, maybe what these mfg’s need to do is have an upfront disclaimer about the performance vs durability trade-off and just have a simple deductible replacement policy. If your suit is damaged, you can get up to 3 replacements for 60% off kind of thing.
The website does say they are race only and very thin. But yikes that sounds no go. Also the fact they haven’t responded to two questions has me looking elsewhere.
I think Wattie stuff was some of the best fitting and best wearing suits I’ve had. Spaero seems to be about as good, but are always low or out of inventory.
