Supplements for training

Wanting to get some ideas of what other supplements to take that could help support my training load. I do fuel during workouts and take the usual post-workout protein shakes with Glutamine.

Wondering what else everyone is doing that I could add to my supplement arsenal?

Thanks in advance!

How long are your workouts?

I average 10-14hrs of training a week with the occasional big week of 16-18hours every 6-8 weeks depending on my schedule.

Been fairly basic & straightforward in my nutrition intake but I do wonder if I am missing out on any supplements that would ensure I do not “fall behind” in the long term.

I like big sandwiches with avocado and monster burritos.

Bix
Creatine
Beta-alanine
Fish oil

No reason not to add a daily multivitamin in my opinion. Or at least supplement some Vitamin D. More and more science pointing to the importance of plenty of D.

Eggs. Lots of eggs.

Perhaps a better questions would be “What supplements are there that have any evidence that they work?”

First the Solid Advice:

I’ve been having good success with eating enough to support the workload. I use the LoseIt App to track intake and ensure that I am eating enough.

Now the Advice that is less reliable:

General Supplements:

  1. First Endurance Multi-V as insurance.
  2. “Jarrow Bone-Up” to support bone health.

Recovery / Sleep Supplements:

  1. Glycine: Improved Sleep / Recovery

  2. Protein Supplements in addition to foods: Eggwhite + Collagen in the morning, Whey Post workout, Egg White prior to bed during bigger blocks.

  3. Boron: Reduces markers of inflammation, supports testosterone

  4. NAC: During Recovery weeks ONLY - Precursor to Glutathione, a powerful antioxidant. Could otherwise decrease the signaling for adaptation.

Thank you for this list. I have always appreciated your input on these questions.
