SuperCoach 2.0 -- 36Wk-IM Training Program

http://www.trifuel.com/triathlon/ironman-workouts/

Has anyone seen this? I think we’ve discussed it (somewhat) before.

This seemes like A LOT of work and planning to give away for free. It certainly is as detailed and thorough as other plans that range from $30 to $50 (if not more).

I came across this from links that I stumbled upon from reading about Tri and IM on wiki, and it caught my eye because I noticed it is bike focused … and some others had voiced concerns about “other plans” not having “enough bike” (shocking that ST’;es would say that isn’t it?).

What are your thoughts/comments on this plan?

If “igobackwards” is Tony Stark, can I be War machine?"

Ran a quick search (after the fact) and found this link …

Anyway … thought I’d share for any new folks to the site, or anyone contemplating a IM or 1/2IM race distance.

It can also be downloaded with this link (Thanks to Hid)

Thanks I like that.

Awesome! I just downloaded the whole program. Time to start planning for next year.

He really is loved around here. Wonder where he went?

people got mad at him over some of the TSR jerseys that never got to people and he bailed. Sounded to me like his girl screwed him on the stuff.
edit; I just checked he hasn’t logged in since may.

He hasn’t logged in as Hid. =)

Anyone have any comments on how good this may be? I believe it was developed ~10 yrs ago…is it dated or …safe to use?

I thought it looked pretty good, although I’m not sure if it was really bike heavy.

What I did notice is that there is a lot of speedwork for the run. Any thoughts on that?

I really enjoyed it. Used it last year for Lake Placid. Well, I sort of used it. I didn’t really start tratining until March and even then it was half assed. I liked the changes in the workouts and it wasn’t just doing the same thing over and over again. It was challenging as well. I would use it again, although I might chuck in a little more weights here and there for me.
All in all I thought it was great and worth it. If I had been more consistent I could really see it paying off.

I just looked at how I could stretch it to go form Nov 05 to Sept 06 … and save me some money on online logs/plans (and spend on stuff).

This way the plan goes for 561 hours with a ~20/50/30 S/B/R split.

Like the last poster said, my consistency, will be the determining factor.

I missed this thread back in Sept – the material isn’t quite that old, and the fundamental concepts are still very applicable (balancing stress & recovery, building a progression of both volume and intensity gradually over a long period of time).

It’s pretty funny to read that this is perceived as somewhat “bike focused” since cycling has always been my weakest sport. I also see where someone was concerned about the running speed work; most IM folks forget about building running economy on the track, and my run has always been my primary strength.

Have fun with it, and forward any questions that you have with the program.

I used it for my first IM back in 2000. Had a fair result. I think that it is a little volume intense but can be adjusted.

I love scamming free stuff.
