After a long bike ride (50+miles) my eyes will be super red for days after and sometimes my right eye is a little blurry for about 45mins after as well. I use eye drops ride before my ride and I wear Oakley half jackets during. I think the wind getting around the shades and hitting my eyes that long really dries them out bad.
Has anyone else had this problem or have a solution they found works or helps? Any kind of guidance is greatly appreciated!!!
Thanks,
Daniel
I had the exact same problems. Better sunglasses (ie bigger with more coverage) seemed to do the trick for me.
I had a similar issue but mine was related to the sun getting between your forehead and top of my sunglasses when in aero position. My glasses tend to slide down my nose a bit. Just another thing to check if it’s not wind.
Get glasses with better coverage (the issue is probably wind, not sun).
For me Jawbones work well, since they are large, and sit close to the face. If anything, not enough air gets in, they fog a bit at stop lights.

I had the same problem, with me it was a combination of pollinosis and wind. I switched to one of these:
These are Smith Optics Pivlock, they come in different variaties, cover the eyes really well (at least for me), they come with changeable lenses AND you never see the frame of your glasses again when in aero position. I really enjoy that.
Anyway, works for me, might work for you as well. Good luck!
Just making sure you aren’t putting sunscreen above eye level?
I sweat a lot and have red eyes after my rides. I have always attributed it to the sweat getting into my eyes.
+1 on the Smiths. The V2 or V90, if I remember correctly, cover my eyes better than any other glasses I tried and the lack of a frame makes them the ultimate TT glasses. I used to really like helmet visors, but these are better still.
Don’t wear sun-screen above your eyes where it will get picked up by sweat and get in your eyes. I learned this the hard way.

My thought as well.
Thanks for the responses! I think I will try the larger shades cover idea since some of the times this has happened I wasn’t wearing any sunscreen. Thanks again!

+2…Normally got irritated after mile 40 on warm day…if i can wash my face at a rest stop, it will go away.

Add another to that. My entire eye socket will get somewhat irritated and red eyes for a few hours after a hot, sweaty ride.

Get some jawbones. They’re like goggles. Sometimes unbearable if it’s super hot. But at least your eyes won’t be dry!
Mine is due to sweat getting into my eyes. Wear a headband, like a Halo and a visor when running like a headsweats.
When I don’t, the angry eyes come out!
Good luck
