Dave,
When do you estimate MSRP information, etc. will be available on the DA?

He may be in transit between Asia and the U.S.
I will let SD give the official word. The build bike was listed original at $12,500. But that price has since been listed as TBA. Still no word on the frameset.
I did some research on prices for the new Felt line, but could only find info for the UK. There are a few online UK sites that have the 2011 F1 frame listed at 2000 GBP (or ~$3200 USD). They also have the Felt DA frameset listed as 3400 GBP (or $5400 USD). Just remember that those prices include VAT, so I’m not sure how that affects the price as well as using today’s exchange rate of 1.59.
The only pricing we have as a reference is the 2011 F1 frame pricing here in the States at $3500 compared to~$3200 in the UK. This isn’t a straight correlation or exchange prices between the two countries. But it should give an idea. In the UK, the DA frame is listed as 1.7x as expensive as the new 2011 F1 frame (3400/2000). So I think it is safe to say it will be well above the price of a Giant Trinity Advance or Scott Plasma3 frame, but probably lower than a Specialized Shiv. Maybe it will be prices closer to a Trek SC. I would like to be proved wrong, but not sure the numbers will work out in it be cheap its first year of production.

I am sorry for the delay, I am working on this now. Tom is right, I flew from Kona to Taiwan to wrap up some of these long overdue details so we can launch our final pricing.
While I don’t have every NTD accounted for, you can rest assured the bike will not drop down below $10,000 as we had in 2010. I also think that even though we’ve kept the Zipp wheel specfication we should be able to keep the retail price below the AR0. If you want a guess, I would think $12,500 should be in the ballpark. If you are shopping a bike in this price range though, what’s +/- $1000?
What other bicycles are you considering if I may ask?
-SD
Dave,
I am only interested in the frameset. I am seriously considering a Scott Plasma 3 TT, more based on fit. The DA is my other option. I like the quality of the new molding process and the Di2 mount. I am a little disappointed over the moth balling of the S down-tube (honestly, more based on looks). If it had the performance and was legal it would of been my first choice. I am a little nervous over you going back to the cut out down-tube. I have heard that cut outs are not the ideal solution and if you look at all the new designs, they have moved away from this. After watching the Scott video, I do see that they played with the S as well and decided against it. Visualizing the air coming off the wheel, it looks like it would be fast. It would be great in the future, if you could explain what you found as the negatives of the S design. In addition, the very small headset bearings of the DA make me nervous as well. The infrastructure everywhere is getting worse and I always like durability over aero and die. I had an old LOOK KG196 with very small needle bearings and they pitted pretty quickly. If the DA came in a little less than the Scott (especially due to no bars / aerobars) I would seriously consider it, because I want to support my local dealer.
Cheers

With a market full of other great TT bikes, I’m not sure that is the correct answer. +/- $100 is one case, however +/- $1000 is quite a bit of money SD; especially in this economy. You really think $1000 is chump change? I’m sad to see you feel that way, especially coming from a bike manufacturer. For the average racer, $1000 goes a long way for a used disc, towards a PM, race entry fees…etc.
With your frameset, if you target pricing around the Giant Trinity Advanced at $4000, will you include aerobars? If you target your pricing around the Trek SC at $4700, will you include the aerobars in the pricing?
Eki1 I am also interested in the DA frameset, however after looking at the UK pricing that was posted I can’t believe it will be “cheap” at all if those numbers hold up. If it is in the relm of the Plasma3, it would be worth considering. Otherwise, I’m not sure it is; especially if it doesn’t come with aerobars in the frameset module.
I think you missed SuperDave’s point. He wasn’t talking about the frame price, but +/- $1000 at the full bike price point of $12,500. If you’re already spending ? $10,000 on a bike, that other grand better be chump change.

Dave,
Original reports of the DA was that it was going to be only Di2 compatible. Terrenzo Bozzone’s Kona DA was full Sram. With all the new modications that are being made to the DA, is that one too so we will have the option of get the bike or frameset that isn’t just Di2 compatible?
Include me in the list of those waiting for this frame. As a small person however, I need to know whether the horizontal stem will be offered because as it is, my existing elbow pads are 78.5 cm off the ground and that does not give me a lot of room to play with stems (I presently ride a - 35 stem on a P3C). One retailer’s opinion was that the stems will be double hinged as opposed to the machined Garmin stems?
Thanks.

I am not Dave, so wait for his official response, but the DA is setup to take both Di2 as well as mechanical. So you shouldn’t have any problems with that. If I end up with the DA, I was planning on running a Red/Force hybrid setup.

I read that the hinged stem is probably going to be standard, but the one piece machined Garmin stem is going to be offered after market. So you should be okay in that regard.
Dave:
Looks like a lot of us are waiting expectantly on the new DA! Thanks for keeping us informed here.
I predict you guys will sell a lot of DA framesets. Many of us already have race wheels, can’t quite justify the price jump to Di2, and so will look at building up a frame rather than buying the complete DA.
As far as the competition, in my case, I’m looking to upgrade from an old aluminum P3, and I’m considering the DA, SC, Shiv, and P4. I’d have to say that the SC is the main competition, at 4.7K with bar and brakes included. I’ve been extremely pleased with the Felt AR4 that I got this year, so I am leaning toward the DA - but am hoping to know more about the frameset package and price soon.

According to Dave in the older thread on pricing, it won’t come with bar but the brakes should be included.
The frameset won’t include the bars, but it’ll have some extras to help with the fitting of the bike and make the purchase of the framesets less of a guessing game for dealer and consumer.
The price hasn’t been released yet as all the pieces to the aftermarket framekit puzzle are not yet finalized. **I expect the cost to go up as the frame itself has gone up significantly in cost as has the number of molds to create a frame. ** There are 9 stems and 3 seatpost options for the frames, we may include all of them to ensure that the ideal fit can be achieved or some combination of posts/stems across the size range. The rear brake is integrated into the frame shape, so it will be included with the kit, but the new front brake shape is designed to blend with the fork crown so it may come with the bike as well as it drops another ~20g of drag vs. a Dura Ace caliper. The final pieces of the puzzle are coming together now so we can make our fall release of the bike. As soon as the last i is dotted and t crossed, we’ll publish the prices. Those published $12,500 prices quoted for the complete bike are estimates as well. It will be an expensive bike. I expect that the frameset will be the more popular option for folks looking for an upgrade. For people that want Di2 and Zipps, the complete bike will be a great deal.
It’ll be a bit more than the 2010 DA and well under $5000.
-SD
The 2010 frameset was $3700, so if SD expects a price increase it should be between $4000 and well under $5000. We will just have to wait and see.

Looks like rear brakes only in that pic.
Yeah I realize that the Felt website doesn’t have the front brake shown as being included. But I trust that once things are finalized, Felt will update us.
