With the recent post about Terenzo in the wind tunnel, I thought how many questions some of us would have. With Sunrise Tri hosting Terenzo Bozone on Tuesday June 8th, I would be happy to present questions to Terenzo that St’ers have. So if anyone questions, please post them here and I will print them out and ask TB.

I have too many questions for T to even know where to start.
However, my wife would kill me if I didn’t ask when is he coming home to NZ to train/race? She is an old woman and just love to perv at Terenzo when he runs around our neighbourhood!
I rode in a sunday bunch with Terenzo about a million years ago. he won’t remember me because he was always going off the front (he was 15 I think) and I was fighting to not get dropped! LOL
As for working for Polar, I have to give great thanks to Polar.
Just this week I saw a new cardiologist. About 5 years ago I sent my original Polar back to get fixed as I’d get all sorts of readings around 225BPM, often when just joggin. They checked out the HRM and pronounced it perfect. I was sceptical but a trip to the cardiologist confirmed it was me and NOT the HRM! Doh!
This week I saw a new cardiologist and he allowed me to wear my Polar 810i during my wired up treadmill test. I have it set up to record every 5 seconds. I compared the fancy readout from the cardiologists computer and compared with my Polar and it was never more than 1 BPM different. I didn’t get a HR spike during the test, unfortunately, but now when I get one, I know it will be reading accurately and I should adjust my intensity to suit, and that if I start to feel nauseous or faint, I will KNOW my Polar is reading right still and I should stop doing what I’m doing.
I already suspected my Polar was pretty darned good and calibrating against a cardiologists fancy schmancy one, has confirmed that my 810i is as good as I thought. Thanks Polar!
Thanks tridork, very nice words about Polar. . I actually REALLY WANT questions for Terenzo.
I will most likely ask does he train/race with Power or just HR? I am sure I can find race day photos and check for a power meter.
What is a recvoery week like between so many races?
How is his Kona training going to be different than last year?
How many days a week do you train ?
What are the hours and mileage that you put in a week ?
What is your race day nutrition like ?
What do you eat the day before and morning of a race ?
Do you train by power meter, HR or old school ?
What kind of bike and run speedwork do you do?
What do you think is your strongest of the three disciplines and why/what made it that way ?
When you were a kid what did you see yourself doing when you were a adult ? Was it triathlon or sports ?
i am guessing he is going to be very ellusive witha lot of answers except maybe the last one.
Also maybe ask what type of gearing he use’s in training why and if it is dependant on terrain or wanted daily results (training objective) also how many bikes does he have?
What is his brother Deano up to? From memory, he was at least as talented as Terenzo, but switched to running only, in his late teens? I haven’t heard anything about him lately. Did Deano decide to get a “real job” (I was a ski pro for years so know all about people asking about “real jobs” (now I’m an engineer and let me tell you, pro anything is better than engineering!)
For Terenzo.
- What does he think it will take to beat Cameron Brown at IMNZ? (he has the best chance afterall)
- For improved speed going forward, what does he think has the greatest potential (swim, bike or run?)
- What has he got planned to make those improvements.
- What percentage of his focus is Kona? OR is it little more than just another race?
- Will he be the first Kiwi male to win Kona?
That’s about it, as really, his specific training and nutrition etc is tailored to him and has little correlation to athletes like me.
They might be tailored for him, but you never know what else you can try that might work better for you. Anything is basically worth trying in training and see if it works for you.

Trying training at all, might be the thing to help me! Doing what he does is just toooo much to ask of a bitter, twisted, broken, disgruntled old man
Based on rides I did with Terenzo about 10 years ago, he is on a completely different planet than I will ever dream of being on! And he’s gotten WAY better since then.
Dino is on a running scholarship in the States, at the uni of Portland. I think his final undergrad year this year, but he has had a few injuries so hasnt been able to run at top form
Thanks for the update
(he should have stayed with triathlon. Cross training reduces injuries )
Kudos to Wayne for getting Torenzo at Sunrise Tri! For anybody on LI, Sunrise Tri is a must to go to!

in all honest same here i can only wish.
How about detailed photos of his Felt.
Maybe you should ask him about the correct spelling of his name?
And what he thinks of Mark Alen or Dave Scot?
Frank
What does he want to do when it’s ‘all over’?
I am sure it is going to stay packed from REV3 on his way to Eagleman, if I can sneak a peak, and I’ll ask for a few photos
.
How has his fitness evolved since he broke the wildflower record?
Does he still believe that was his best block of training hes ever done?
Olympic 2012 bid in the plan at all?
Did he alter anything drastically to hit his run in clearwater after two sub-par (for him) attempts?
Does he still pace with HR on the bike, or does he now use power?
How does he work his long runs/rides? Progressive, easy, by feel/time/miles/HR, fast finish, etc.
I am going to attempt to video the Slowtwitch questions in Q&A seesion and post the link.
Terenzo was awesome. I did announce that I had Slowtwitch questions to group of 70-80, Terenzo was cool with the questions which I printed. Problem is my video file is too large for YOUTUBE. I hope someone in my network of friends can edit the file, I am sure it is too large to email, it is 3.50 GB. After the 45 minutes of Q&A, more autographs and photos. Terenzo was hanging out before the outdoor under the tent session inside the shop and chatting with everyone, then we announce SHOW TIME.
