Sunglasses with no top frame

I don’t like frameless on the bottom, but I’m intrigued by trying something with no frame on top for when I’m down in the aero position. I know Oakley has the Flight Jacket and Ekoi has the Perso Evo 9, but both are a little pricey. The Ekoi isn’t too bad since it’s full customization. Any other brands do something like this? Maybe something under $100. Or anyone ever see ripoff Oakley’s around?

I’ve been using these since September. They come with yellow lenses too. They have held up well - $18.99. Very good for going aero and looking up.

You can buy fake flight jackets, but the real ones can be had for $100-130 and are much better quality.

Thanks but I’m looking for bottom frame but no top frame

I have Roka GP-1’s. Very nice, but they certainly won’t fit your budget.

After using for a year, I find that I wish I had the GP-1X with the lense that goes higher as in certain conditions the frameless top doesn’t block the sun well.

Any idea which ones? I’m not seeing any on their site. I’m currently using the Tifosi Davos and like them a good amount

Tifosi Podium

I’ve been using them for years.

Thanks for the link. That is cheaper than I thought, but I probably should have also mentioned I’m not a huge fan of the colors they have.

Those are frameless on top and bottom. I’m looking for just frameless on top

I forgot about those! I’d love to get them as they are my favorites, just based off looks, but you’re right, way too expensive

Bit off tangent, out of curiosity, what is the reason/function behind the partial top vs bottom vs no frame vs full frame?
is there a pro & con when riding or just fashion/personal pref?
I use Roka SL-1x (frameless) since it was on sale and wanted a larger lens.

For me, I do not like the feel of frameless on the bottom, nor the view when looking down. So I’ve always worn full frame glasses. When on the bike, in the aero position, I think I will have better vision with glasses that have no frame on the top, I believe that is one of their intents.

i assumed the motivation for this was for longevity of the lens. i have a pair of tifosi podiums which are full frameless where the lens started to crack near the nosepiece. i have a pair of oakley evzero’s where this hasn’t been a problem but i worry it eventually will be. a bottom frame would reduce the stress on the lens when taking off and putting on. i’m a big fan of my oakley flightpath for this reason

See the fourth picture, the browbar is removable. Exact reason I love them in aero. They also have a bit bigger coverage than the Davos.

Same question, but prescription… Any options?

Some folks don’t like top frames as they block vision for some in aero. Personally, I don’t like bottom frames as they make it harder to look back and see car coming up. Lovin’ the EVZeros (no frame) right now for both cycling and running (super light); though from a fashion perspective I prefer my framed ones (jawbone and scalpel…two face for apres bike).

Similar idea, I have a couple pairs I bought from Zenni that I use for riding. The important thing is to choose a frame that has long nose piece wires so you can lower the nose and raise the upper frame so you can see with your head down. I also like to get sturdy frames without spring hinges so that just some latex gripper is adequate for keeping them in place. Else you’ll need a strap.

Thanks! That’s good to know. I do like my Davos, I’ll have to look into these ones
