Just wanted to check if anyone wears the Sugoi RS cycling shorts? Are they true in size? Quality shorts?
I have several pairs of Sugoi tri shorts and recently added a pair of their cycling shorts. I don’t know if they are the RS. If it helps, I wear medium in Sugoi bottoms, but small in Zoot and Hannulink. I’m 5’10", 30" waist, 140 lbs. I believe that would make me a small in most brands.
It’s a good short. I have a few pairs of the bib version in rotation.
In terms of sizing, they have done something to it over the years and it’s different now. I was a fit model for Sugoi when I worked there back in the '90’s and a Large fit me perfectly. But now, the Large RS Bibs are too short in the torso. Fine everywhere else. Now, mind you I have a long torso, but just a warning if you are long in the torso.
Like many cycling-wear manufactures Sugoi has really beefed up the padding on the RS short. This seems to be a trend. Not sure if I like it or need it, but again perhaps I am not the perfect customer. I am not a minimalist padding guy either, but the padding on some of the top-of-the line shorts, with a more-is-better design philosophy, is over-the-top - too much. I find the RS to be a better short, once it has been ridden in and the padding broken down and compressed a bit.
I bought a ton of Sugoi stuff two seasons ago. Everything from merino base layers, to jerseys to gloves. Pretty much everything, excluding a pair of 4 pocket tri shorts that i only race in, has fallen to bits. The lamination on the gloves fell apart during one of my first rainy rides, i still use them but had to stitch them back together myself. The merino stuff was the worst: i got a bunch of boxers and a base layer which developed holes really quick, even while following proper cleaning instructions. grrrrrr.
My brother with 20 yrs of cycling experience recommended this to me as the best. He stated he tried everything and said Sugoi RS’s are the best. I couldn’t be happier. Mine are 2 years old (have 2) and have abou 8k miles on them and they are still in good shape.
LOVE my RS bibs and jersey. The fit is on the smaller side so the medium fits me perfect at 5-8 and 155lbs. I got the Medium in the jersey but I wish I would have gotten the small. It fits nice don’t get me wrong, I just prefer a tighter fit, almost like a compression top.
Whats your waist and what size you wear pls?
I love all of Sugoi’s new gear now and the RS line is fantastic. For me, it is true to fit with one caveat- the RS line is meant to be ‘tight’/‘snug.’ If you are looking for something that has a bit more room or is not cut ‘tight’, you should look into their other line. The other line is better for stuffing pockets, long rides, etc.
You can’t go wrong, the quality is amazing.
The RS Cycling Shorts are the bomb. Fit true to size, as far as I can tell. Pad is excellent and very comfortable.
Great shorts. If you’re between medium and large sizes (like if you have a size 33 waist), go with the L.

I have two pairs of the bibs. Love them. Really great. Run true to size, but are “snug.” In other words, a medium fits me well, and I’m skinny. Very well made. Great chamois. A+.

32" waiste - size Large
.
They are good shorts, but I found the Desoto 400 mile shorts to be better.
Cheers,
Good shorts but the new RSE bibs are much better. Best chamois ever.

X2 I have three pairs of the RSE bibs and they are heaven. Sugoi nailed it with that chamois.
34 waist and went with large.
Great shorts. Plus they are actually made in north America (Vancouver)
Best shorts I’ve used. I try others, then keep coming back to the RS. I just started using the new RSE and love it.
They are the ONLY short I wear. Have 6 pairs now I think. There are very few brands that I am extremely loyal to, but Sugoi is quickly becoming one for me - I’ve had nothing but great experiences with anything Sugoi. And no, I have no connection to them (unfortunately).
