Suggestions to get rid of chlorine smell?

I’ve been spending more time in the pool lately, and I’ve noticed that the odor of chlorine is lasting longer than usual, despite the after swim shower. The pool does offer limited Cl removal products, but they aren’t the greatest. What products have been successful out there in Slowtitchia?

I think its called superswim. its a shampoo + conditioner(2 bottles), works like a charm. That or just leave it.

Just glory in it. That odor right there is the smell of the world’s cheapest cologne. And I bet it’s still better than the Ironman cologne!

Go for a run. Your sweat will smell like chlorine. If you run for long enough eventually it will go away.

Cycling would work too.

I take a shower right after a swim, then another 2 hours or so later. Gets rid of most of the smell. Shave your head for reduced smell and cleaning time (optional).
The real annoyance, in my experience, is that more pool time, especially in the winter, leads to skin so dry it feels like wearing a suit 6 sizes too small.

HTFU, I think its in the shampoo aisle…

Or you could just swim enough so you stop realizing that you smell like chlorine.

I would, but there are times that I have to schedule a swim just prior to work. I used to run before work, but being a paramedic and stuck in a truck for 12 hours doesn’t help leg stiffness one bit.
Thanks though.

LOL. Got a good chuckle out of this one. Other than bieng mildly offensive, I’m alright with it. However, when I transport nauseated patients at work, I don’t want the Cl to be the agent that sends them in covering themselves with whatever was being previously digested. Granted I can give meds to help prevent above senario, but they don’t work all of the time.

Ultra Swim for the hair. Any body wash should work for the skin. I use a generic brand because it’s cheaper.

Also, I’ve heard that wetting your hair in the shower before swimming will reduce the amount that is absorbed.

Mix 4 cups of water with 1/2 cup of Hydrogen Peroxide, apply sparingly and rinse. Then wash with Dove Body Wash and rinse.

Guaranteed to get rid of the chlorine smell.

BTW, also work great on my dog when she gets into it with a skunk!

My pool uses enough chlorine to win a trench war, with commensurate aftersmell. I suggest using Tri-Swim shampoo and body wash.

I’ll be looking into that shortly. Thanks.

Smearing myself with feces seems to do the trick.

California Babies makes a chlorine shampoo / soap that is easily available at Target and Whole Foods and is relatively cheap compared to ordering special swimmers shampoo.

All kidding aside, when I was swimming full time, I used Jergen’s lotion. not only did it get rid of the “itchies”, but smelled good enough to cover the Cl smell. Give it a try. My other comment would be try a different pool…seriously, if it’s strong enough to make patient puke, it must be rather strong in the pool also.

I’ve tried a few different brands, and by far the best is the stuff from Aquia. They make shampoo and conditioner and also a body wash.

Go sit in the sauna for a while.
