In fact, once you hit “submit” and the giant registration charge clears your credit card, there is absolutely no difference between racing with a foundation slot and any other athlete at the race. I entered an IM via foundation once and there was absolutely no indication or acknowledgement of my “foundation status” at the race site whatsoever.
