Struggling to manage rectus femoris trigger points - HELP

I have a wierdo pain that occurs in my R quad, and has since July. It comes on only when running fast(er), and normally after about 15 minutes in anything z3 or above, and the pain is a gradual tightening of the quad, with a dull pain mid leg around the centre. however, I can run in z2 for hours and hours pain free, provided there is not too much fast stuff or there are no major hills. Cycling long is also fine, but I do get a bit of tightness or sensation about 30-35 minutes into a 40min tt. A rest week seems to mitigate the problem, but it always comes back.

I’m struggling with how to manage this. I went through a round of PT-ART late in the summer, worked with a massage therapist before that, worked with another PT early this winter, and most recently at the recommendation of a sports doc, have moved on to a third PT for accupuncture. The doc is pretty sure it is trigger points, but had me undergo an ultrasound to exclude tendonitis.

I’m getting frustrated, poorer with all the PT, and not much faster. Is there an entirely different approach i should be trying? I’ve tried to follow every piece of advice i’ve been given about running form, core strength and muscle balance, appropriate stretching, and trying to roll out adhesions or trigger points with a foam roller. Am I missing anything here?

bump?

Have you tried ART in conjunction with Trigger Point? I was having severe issues with ITB and PF. I went into IM FL with only 9 miles a week of running. Needless to say that isn’t a great feeling. Nothing was helping me get better. I use ART regularly, and when I combined it with Trigger Point at home things got much better. I even did a fairly aggressive run the other day with no pain. This is huge for me. Try the two together and see what happens.
