I’m replacing my SPD pedals on my bike to Look, but I realized that the threading on one of the SPD screws is stripped as a result of taking it on and off too many times. Any suggestions for getting it off? Thanks.
EDIT: I meant to say that the screw on the SPD cleat is stripped. Not the pedal. I can’t remove the cleat from the shoe. Thanks.
if you mean the pedal axle itself, and you have the same model i have (go on/off with an allen wrench from the backside of the crank arm, no place for a pedal wrench to connect to btwn the crank and the pedal itself ) - ugh - that doesn’t sound good.
think your asking about getting the cleat off??
probably you need to cut it off with a dremel tool or some such thing, ive had them seize and rust on my mtb shoe before and thats what i ended up doing…alternately if you have a drill press or even a drill sometimes you can drill the head off the bolt…this approach is usually easier on the bolt head…bottom of shoe…if its done carefully you can save the cleat and just get new screws. good luck.
I had this happen to my GF’s shoes last year and it was a pain to remove the screws. What worked was to drill a hole on the bolt and then use a screw extractor that I bought at Sears:
