I just received the Strassburg Sock in the mail. I am a little disappointed that no directions were included! How does one put the sock on? Open end first? Should the strap on top of the sock be applied around the upper calf? There is a strap that comes off the toe with Velcro attached. No information about the proper use of Velcro is included! Is that strap supposed to hook somewhere? WHat hooks to the ring at the top of the sock? I find the lack of clear directions in multiple languages to be disconcerning? It is often helpful to read instructions in English first and the French! Line drawn illustrations are always valuable. These people could learn a lesson or two from IKEA! Why not have better customer support?
I think there is a little loop at the top - just take the velcro strap - stick through the loop - and connect the the ‘female’ side of the velco.
FWIW, I tried the sock with little sucess. You are suppose to wear it while sleeping but I could never fall asleep so guess what I ripped off at 1 AM?

Just another point of view. The strassburg sock did wonders for my achilles tendonitis, not so much for my pf yet though that can take a lot longer I hear. Good luck. Mine came with instructions. Put your foot in the hole. Wrap the strap through the eyelet and back down to the velcro pulling the toes up. Only stretch the toes to the point that you can make it through the night. If you wake up in the middle of the night loosen it up and then go back to sleep. Don’t give up you will get used to it.
You can’t fool me – you just wanted someone else to do the google work for you:

Anyway, as evidenced by a previous reply, it doesn’t work for everyone, but I found it to be the key toward ridding myself of an evil attack of PF. Good luck.
From which online store did you purchase the sock? The socks we stock come with great directions along w/ a photo on the packaging that shows how it is worn.

I thought “How does one put the sock on? Open end first?,” would be too obvious. I guess not.
Per Bella’s point, mine came with full instructions as well. You may want to wash yours before you use it…it could have been “previously enjoyed”.
Heal fast.
bella, what store did you buy from? thanks.
I forwarded this note to Dave Strassburg late last night so he’ll be aware of the thread. I may see Dave at a conference next week, if I do I’ll follow up with him.
I stock and sell The Sock in my store and it always comes in a box with plenty of instructions. Of course since we don’t do mail order we also talk to each person about how to use it and what to expect from it.
It should have either come in a box or plastic bag (retailers get a choice of how they want it packaged) along with very clear directions.
Like anything out there results will vary, but we have had great results using it for many issues. Be patient and don’t rush your ecovery.

sounds like you got the skinny on how to use, only suggestion is don’t crank it back too tight as this gave me a hot spot on my big toe that would wake me up…
Boots, don’t know if this is much of a big deal or not but I have purchased two of these socks from your store in 2008. Are these things supposed to shrink? I don’t think I ever put the old one in the dryer but it is about 2" shorter. Consider the stretchiness of the newer sock, and it does not fit quite the same.
I recommend not torquing down too tight on the strap above the calf. I developed a blood clot after on night of sleeping in this sock, though I’ve battled superficial clots for the past year in the same leg. Very painful, but I can attribute at least one of my episodes to the use of this sock.
I much prefer the soft interface, rigid posterior splints to the Strassberg Sock. They initially look/seem like they would be much less comfortable, but most people actually find them bette. Also, they are more versatile and work better for other pathologies (i.e. achilles, gastroc, soleus issues) rather than just plantar fasciitis.
wow is this post serious, the socks are meant to keep your ankle flexed and lightly stretched at night, i’m pretty sure based on that info a two year old could figure out how to wear them
.

No.

Where do I get this? A brand you recommend?
You can get posterior night splints all over online (i.e. www.braceshop.com) . I like the DonJoy Dorsiwedge best, but it is pretty pricey (~ $100). I think I’m all out at my office as well. I’m currently using a more generic, US Surgical model that you can get pretty cheap online. PM me if you want and I’ll send you one.
I tried to PM you…but no luck…my email is ladavidson@firstam.com
