Stock Cannondale brakes?

I recently purchased a new road bike (Cannondale R700, my first “real” bike), which comes with Cannondale’s Theta brake calipers. Does anybody know anything about these? They seem to operate just fine on the road…

I ask because I found a special at Colorado Cyclist for a set of last year’s Ultegra calipers for $70, and I was wondering if it’s worth upgrading.

Any thoughts???

Bump…

Made by Tektro. They seem to be the same brakes you find branded on several different companies’ bikes. I have a Cervelo Dual with these calipers on them- branded as Cervelo of course. I doubt whether they are worth upgrading, except for the pads- they’re noisy and affected by water too much for my liking. Not that it has rained too much around here (Sydney) lately :frowning:

keep them, I’ve had those brakes on my Cervelo Prodigy for a couple of years and can’t tell the difference between them and the Ultegras on my Cannondale TT bike. Spend the money on a better upgrade, get a new saddle, some nice bike shorts, or a few extra tires and tubes.

Awesome. Thanks guys, that’s exactly the kind of advice I was looking for.
